In my little experience, I've had tough times drilling wayward teenagers and I blame this on gruesome and careless upbringing.

Parenting is a lifelong job but you cannot successfully curate learning experiences with children if they don't like, know or trust you.
If you don't fill your children's bucket of self esteem so high when they're little, the present day society will poke enough holes to drain it out.

If parents will not learn to imbibe discipline in their children and set healthy boundaries for them while they're young, modest teachers will not be able to mend the bridge either.
It's in your place as parents to step out of the power struggle in time. You shouldn't expect them to be adults first.
