For many people, it’s become increasingly difficult to express their outrage at Israel’s oppression of the Palestinian people, the continued occupation of their land and endless violation of UN resolutions.
(1/6)
Our people have often felt imprisoned by the context of the “debate”, and especially the viciousness of the attack on Jeremy Corbyn and those who have stood up for the Palestinians. We should understand that this is the aim: it’s about intimidation.
(2/6)
Many activists, old and new, have therefore shied away from talking about Palestine, even while acknowledging the centrality of that issue to their outlook, and the man-made human rights catastrophe that it is. We must not let that happen.
(3/6)
The more aggressive the attempts to shut down discussion of Palestinian freedom, the louder we must become.
(4/6)
This #PalestineDay, Red Labour sends its solidarity to the people of Gaza and the West Bank, the whole Occupied Palestinian Territories.
(5/6)
We pledge that your cause is our cause, we’ll continue to speak up - and we know that one day, Palestine will be free. ✊

Since being appointed, Labour’s General Secretary, David Evans has made a habit out of threatening members, CLP officers and local parties. There are no signs of this ending, nor the cynicism of his approach having bottomed out as yet. (1/6)
His previous emails tried to close down debates on the EHRC report and the suspension of our previous leader. The latest email to CLP secretaries etc now goes further: to forbid solidarity motions or any discussion of the “internal processes of the party”. (2/6)
This is an appallingly authoritarian way to treat the grassroots membership of the party, who are - as Evans seems to have forgotten - the people who deliver the leaflets, who knock on doors and campaign for the party throughout the year & at election time. (3/6)
All over the country, Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs) and branches are passing motions in support of Jeremy Corbyn & in defiance of our General Secretary, David Evans & regional officials who are trying to shut this movement down.
(1/7)
The more that party officialdom take authoritarian measures against party members, the more protests & actions there will be, and the the more they try to take away our freedom of speech, the louder we will become.
(2/7)
In 2016, right-wing MPs in the Parliamentary Labour Party started their ‘chicken coup’ by a co-ordinated mass resignation which led to a leadership challenge by Owen Smith. They were using the political power they had to try to stop Jeremy Corbyn & socialism in the party.
"This meeting notes Keir Starmer's decision on 18th Nov to declare his refusal to restore the whip to Labour MP Jeremy Corbyn, following the announcement that his suspension had been lifted without further action.
(1/6)
This meeting further notes the widespread media coverage of Jeremy's disciplinary hearing, of what should be a confidential process.
(2/6)
This meeting deplores Sir Keir's political interference in the disciplinary process and feel that this action completely undermines the Labour Party’s disciplinary processes and calls for the restoration of the whip to Jeremy Corbyn.
As Red Labour, we welcome Jeremy Corbyn’s reinstatement to the Labour Party. He should never have been suspended in the first place and the way the whole saga has been handled raises serious questions - that still require answers.
(1/4)
Thank you to every single Labour Party member who stood up to this injustice, not just for Jeremy, but for all those who’ve been unfairly targeted by those who wants to drive socialists out of the party.
(2/4)
The issues around freedom of speech in the party also need to be urgently addressed. Those who defended Jeremy over the last week should immediately be reinstated and we send our solidarity to members still waiting for due process from the party’s disciplinary systems.
[thread] Red Labour would like to congratulate all the socialist candidates from the #GrassrootsVoice slate who were elected on to the NEC last night. What it shows is that the grassroots left is still a force in the party. We can & must build on this. (1/10)
However, there are some lessons to learn & fast. When we came into the @CLGALabour NEC campaign, Red Labour drew up a strategic plan where the entire #GrassrootsVoice slate would be supported by the collective organisations in the CLGA. We would work as a collective. (2/10)
Undoubtedly, the adoption of a single, unified slate & the decision to preference the vote by region were major factors in achieving the result. All of that took hard work, hours of negotiation, some of it very frustrating. But the biggest decision was to campaign as one. (3/10)
It’s important that we recognise the enormity of what has happened here.
These actions by Keir Starmer, in withdrawing the whip from the previous & democratically elected leader of the Labour Party, and suspending his membership of the party, are unprecedented. This is not just about Jeremy. These actions are an attack on us all.
The suspension of Mr Corbyn doesn’t seem to have any constitutional basis & it even goes against the recommendation of the EHRCs report - which explicitly says that members are protected from expressing their opinions on the scale of antisemitism in the party. So what’s it about?
