1. For some reason Jesus decided to come to earth and bifurcate human history at a time medical science was rather primitive. Society was technologically backward. #Illuminare
2. There were no cars, donkeys were the primary means of transportation. There was no air travel either. Astronomy was tied to astrology. Why did he choose that point in time? Why not now for example, or the turn of the century? #Illuminare
3. There are two portraits of Jesus revealed in scriptures, and they’re manifestation denominated. There’s the cerebral, intellectual Jesus Paul wrote about to the Colossians. #Illuminare
4. We’re told all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are domiciled in him - be it quantum physics, chemistry, or genetics. Colossians 2:3. He’s the brain behind creation science, the guy doing all the exciting stuff in the book of Genesis. #Illuminare
5. In this rational capacity he was designated the Logos - “For by him were all things created in heaven and on earth, things visible and invisible…” Colossians 1:16. #Illuminare
6. This scientific Jesus is a modern medicine practitioner who reveals scientific knowledge to the world. This is what Solomon was referring to when he wrote, “For by wisdom from God your days will be multiplied, & years of life shall be increased.” Proverbs 9:11 AMP. #Illuminare
8. This scientist Jesus never manifested in human form. If he wanted to manifest, he couldn’t appear two thousand years ago. The context wouldn’t accommodate him. Society was scientifically backward. He fits more into our milieu. #Illuminare
9. The downside of course is that he would not be crucified if he appeared now. Romans no longer crucify people, they’re now mindful of tourism. (Ok, that’s a joke, but you get the point). And Romans are no longer world power. It’s now America, China and Russia. #Illuminare
10. In essence, the manifestation of this modern Jesus would practically make salvation impossible. But humanity needs the Jesus that went to the cross. He died for our sins and diseases. #Illuminare
11. For all its advancement, modern medicine still struggles. And it’s limited as a physical science. It does not recognize spiritual affliction. Yet the Bible says some afflictions are demonic. #Illuminare
12. The other dimension of Jesus is the manifested Jesus. That’s the Jesus who lived on earth for thirty-three odd years - the practicalizer of compassion. #Illuminare
13. He healed the sick, performed miracles, raised the dead, cast out demons. The results were so outstanding, his detractors accused him of casting out demons by Beelzebub. Matthew 12:24. #Illuminare
14. This was the Jesus that went to the cross. He died not just for our sins but for our diseases as well. And that’s only half the story. He also died for our deliverance from demonic forces, as well as our material prosperity. #Illuminare
15. By the lashings and the wounds inflicted on him we are healed, Isaiah prophesied. Isaiah 53:5. The Bible says he was a man of sorrows and pain, and acquainted with grief. Isaiah 53:4. In other words, he bore our clinical depression. #Illuminare
16. And so, we come to our question: Can we be believing God for divine healing and still take medicine when we’re sick? Does that negate faith? #Illuminare
17. Truth is, what we’re actually asking is, which Jesus is more authentic – the scientific, unmanifested Jesus; or the manifested practicalizer of compassion? #Illuminare
18. Both dimensions of Jesus are valid. But the manifested Jesus is more useful to humanity. His death, burial and resurrection accomplished more for our healing than medical science ever could. Medical science has limitations. The resurrected Jesus is unlimited. #Illuminare
19. The average doctor believes he’s a medicine administrator, not a healer of diseases. He readily concedes it is God who heals. Some people after all go on to full recovery after being given up by medicine. Hopeless cases are beyond doctors but not God. #Illuminare
20. The point being made is, medicine or no medicine, you still need God to get healed. And when medicine can’t help you, God is your only recourse. You need God’s help: #Illuminare
21. “Because of my faith in him, my daily portion will be a Father’s help and deliverance from evil.” Psalm 37:39-40 TPT. #Illuminare
22. Sometimes, early discovery of a disease is what saves our lives. That is a dimension of grace. The right doctor, the right diagnosis, just in time intervention… All these are dimensions of grace. #Illuminare
23. The Bible talks about approaching the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace “to help in good time for every need – appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it.” Hebrews 4:16 AMPC. #Illuminare
24. Jesus came that you might have life and have it more abundantly. John 10:10. The Lord will fulfill the number of your days. Exodus 23:26. #Illuminare
25. If you’re suffering from miscarriages, or you’re struggling with conception, remember God’s word: “No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land.” Exodus 23:26. Stand on that word. #Illuminare
26. When the enemy has made a determination on your life and pronounced your death sentence, condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. Isaiah 54:17. #Illuminare
27. When everything seems so hopeless, throw yourself at God’s mercy. He is famous for great and unexpected acts and there’s no end to his surprises. Job 5:8-9 #Illuminare
28. When the enemy pronounces your future foreclosed, remember these words: “For I know the plans and thoughts I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and well being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. –” #Illuminare
29. “– Then you will call on me and you will come and pray to me, and I will hear your voice and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:11-12. #Illuminare
30. Some people think miracles are no longer needed because of advances in medical science. And yet our cancer centers are full. Satan is still fully operative, and creative. #Illuminare
31. In fact, the more advanced society becomes, the more creative the enemy is. We invented airplane and he came up with aerophobia – the fear of flying. #Illuminare
32. We engineered skyscrapers and he came up with acrophobia – fear of heights. There’s a fear invented for every advancement made by man. #Illuminare
33. We will always need the esoterica Jesus. We will always need the man from Galilee. As long as the devil is entrepreneurial you will need Jesus. He manifested on earth that he might destroy the works of the devil. Acts 10:38. #Illuminare
34. You do not need to PROVE you’re a man or woman of faith. Let each man act according to his faith. #Illuminare
35. There are those who can believe God for divine healing, and that is all well and good. Then there are those who put faith in medical science, and that is okay. #Illuminare
36. A merry heart does good like medicine, meaning medicine does good. Proverbs 17:22. #Illuminare
37. And then there are those who tackle disease with a hybrid of faith and medicine. It is all good too. It is the same Jesus manifesting as healer in all three situations. It’s either through the dispensation of wisdom or faith, or a combination. #Illuminare
38. Whatever approach you subscribe to however, it is good to learn how to trust God for healing. Learn to stand on God’s word, make confessions of faith, resist the enemy, fight diseases. James 4:7. #Illuminare
39. Oh, by the way exercise. That is wisdom, especially if your weight is a medical issue. Besides, it’s a healthy lifestyle. #Illuminare
40. I want you to give your life to Jesus. Please pray this prayer: “Father I come to you in the name of Jesus. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in my heart that God raised him from the dead. I am saved. Amen.” #Illuminare
42. *To understand the Christian walk from a contemporary perspective, read my book, Conversations of a 21st Century Saint. Order at lekealderstore.com. #Illuminare
1. Law school was kind of a blur for me. I had lost interest in law, but I wanted to see the program through. That way no one can accuse me in the future of inability to pull off a law degree whatever direction I chose to follow. #Illuminare
2. With the benefit of hindsight that direction seemed pretty clear. I had had art exhibitions while in university. My interests were tending more and more towards branding. I was particularly interested in corporate identity design. #Illuminare
3. I just needed to pass my bar exam to fulfill all righteousness and complete the circle. #Illuminare
1. Last week we began the teaching on faith. We concluded that faith is not our problem since the scriptures tell us God has dealt to every believer “the measure of faith.” Romans 12:3. And that follows a pattern of giving. #Illuminare
2. The Bible says, “Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by his divine power.” 2 Peter 1:3. God is enormously generous to us. The New Testament is all about his gifts. #Illuminare
3. But the scriptures also say there’s a power at work within us, and that that power is not dormant, it is active. God is able to do abundantly beyond all we can ask or think by the working of that power within us. Ephesians 3:20. #Illuminare
1. Without a doubt there are challenges in life. And they come in various shades and sizes. As you study responses to those challenges however, you soon realize some people will rather be pitied than fight the good fight of faith. #Illuminare
2. They derive comfort from a feeling of helplessness. There’s that feeling of self-righteousness - “I don’t deserve all these trials. Life is unfair to me. My life is full of difficulties. Why me?” #Illuminare
3. But the devil doesn’t care about fairness. There’s no moral bone in his body. Satan is sadistic. He’ll gleefully lay cancer on a baby. Any discussion of fairness where the devil is concerned is a conversation headed in the wrong direction. It’s a nonstarter. #Illuminare
1. My dear son, this is my seventh and final letter to you on Nigeria. I hope I’ve stirred your consciousness. #NigeriaNotes
2. Given the incredible resources of the country, Nigeria ought to be great. I’m not talking about natural resources, I’m talking about the human resources. #NigeriaNotes
3. Our youths should never have visa problems, they should be in high demand, recruited before we’ve finished minting them. #NigeriaNotes
1. My dear son, let’s discuss a little bit of policy this morning, let’s look at the educational system. Your generation is going to take over soon, and you’ll need to design policy. #NigeriaNotes
2. The high-level unemployment you’re seeing is an indication something is not quite right with our educational system. #NigeriaNotes
3. Of course, it will be wrong to ascribe all the factors to the educational system. The economy plays a huge role in employment creation, but the fact remains a good educational system creates jobs. #NigeriaNotes
1. My dear son, the elephant in the Nigerian parlor is the subject of federalism. It’s a pity it’s rather been reduced to two things – control of natural resources and the question of state police. #NigeriaNotes
2. So framed, the idea becomes foreboding. The issue of control of natural resources raises the question of economic viability of certain regions; the question of state police raises the specter of the feasibility of a dismembered Nigeria. #NigeriaNotes
3. Truth is, when you study the mineral map of Nigeria, Nigeria is a mineral dump. We have 52 minerals. There are actually more minerals in the North than in the South. #NigeriaNotes
