TODAY: The Senate Oversight Committee will hear testimony related to #absentee counting in #Detroit. The two previous #ElectionIntegrity hearings were joint with House members. Today’s is only on the Senate calendar.
Here’s a portion of a motion filed Sunday by Sidney Powell related to one of the remaining election suits in Michigan.

It will be interesting to see how testimony goes today — and who delivers it — given this requests certain affidavits be sealed.
You can stream the hearing here: woodtv.com/news/michigan/…
Former Sen. Pat Colbeck is first to testify. Previously, he was discredited in one of the lawsuits.

“No evidence supports Mr. Colbeck’s position.”

Senators are giving him a platform to once again assert these allegations. He also spoke during the state certification meeting.
JUST IN: Rep. Hall’s office says Rudy Giuliani will appear TOMORROW before the House Oversight Committee. Capitol reporters have said the Senate declined hearing from him today.

This could explain why this isn’t a joint hearing today. I’ve reached out to Hall for clarification.
Colbeck claims ballots were dumped in counties including Kent County.

This is the first time I’m hearing that claim connected to Kent, where Lisa Posthumus Lyons serves as clerk and has maintained — including before oversight members — this election was secure.
As questioning from senators takes place, people outside the hearing room can be heard chanting.
Twice now Colbeck has said he didn’t watch the 11/19 testimony from Antrim County’s clerk. Yet he’s used the county’s initial reporting inaccuracy (which was later identified and fixed) as the jumping off point for his claims connected to the election software.
“How do we move from what’s possible to what’s actually happened?”

It seems Chair McBroom is pushing back against the “vulnerabilities” Colbeck has detailed in his presentation — which, again, were found to lack evidence in court — by noting Michigan preserves paper ballots.
“Would you have requested a recount?” Sen. Irwin asks Colbeck if he were in Trump’s/James’ position. He goes on to say he thinks there should be a detailed forensic audit, but that he also questions the recount process.
McBroom is moving on to other testimony. He notes those slated to speak need to have firsthand knowledge of absentee counting at TCF.
Those who have testified after Colbeck so far have focused on operations in Detroit. Allegations include workers carrying ballots that weren’t properly secured, military ballots only being filled out for Biden and GOP challengers having to eat lunch on a different floor.
Questions from Sen. Lucido have focused in on getting contact info of the people who allegedly were not following proper election protocols, as described by those testifying.
A few times now people have said they witnessed issues with the “chain of custody” of ballots.

Again Lucido is asking a question. Asks if any allegations have been turned over to @MIAttyGen. Points out the committee is not the court of law.
Previously, those who have disputed TCF claims said some GOP challengers showed up and didn’t know how the absentee adjudication process works. One woman who just testified said she was handed a book on rules when she tried challenging a ballot.
Also an important note: ballots are NOT verified by absentee counting boards, which is what the TCF Center was set up for. In Detroit, like elsewhere, they’re processed (signature checks etc.) at the clerk’s office and sent to the AV counting board for tabulation/adjudication.
Wayne Co Canvassers Chair Monica Palmer testifying. Through Lucido’s questioning, says she didn’t submit an affidavit related to TCF,
but said she observed ballots not properly secured. Recommended any reform relate to absentee adjudication process with more funding, equipment.
We have yet to hear from a dem challenger/observer at TCF.
One common theme I’ve now heard in oversight hearings: those volunteering with the GOP Party say they either didn’t get a response after applying to work in Detroit or were told they weren’t needed. Then say there were less republicans than democrats at TCF.
Context to people questioning DOB inputs:
Woman who says she was contracted to work IT claims she did not witness one absentee ballot cast for Pres. Trump. According to Detroit’s election results, more than 6,000 absentees were counted for Trump at TCF. Nearly 3,500 through straight ticket: detroitmi.gov/sites/detroitm…
Committee is now in a recess.
Man currently testifying says ballots were dropped off at TCF overnight into Wednesday.

Based on what he’s explaining, it’s likely they were coming from election HQ, where they’re verified prior to going to the AV counting board for tabulation.
Reminder: Those voting absentee had until 8 p.m. on Election Day to get their ballot to the clerk or a drop box. From there, each ballot goes to the clerk’s office for verification. After those checks are completed, they then go to the AV counting board.
You mean, like, questioning the AG’s office about said affidavits and a potential investigation?
I’ve also reached out to @JocelynBenson’s office for comment in response to today’s hearing.
We’re approaching four hours of testimony now.

It’s clear people testifying believe they witnessed fraud during the absentee counting process in Detroit.

Most of what’s been explained proves some of the election workers were rude and hostile to republicans.
Here’s where the DOJ is, which Sen.
MacDonald has asked multiple times.
Again a request for a forensic audit is made for several counties, including Kent. Wondering if this will prompt a response from @KentCountyClerk.
Giuliani disagrees with AG Barr (in earlier tweet if you missed it) and says “we have gathered ample evidence of illegal voting”. Perhaps we’ll hear that evidence tomorrow when he appears before House oversight members.
Several times now we’ve heard people question how absentee ballots could show up at TCF after polls closed on Election Day.

That’s literally standard procedure. Absentee ballots were first processed by the local clerk and then sent to the appropriate absentee counting board.
As pointed out by the only person we’ve heard so far defend the outcome, clerks begged legislators to have more processing time for absentees. They responded with 10 hours the day before Election Day, which didn’t include tabulating.
One question: who was sending out these messages and calls saying TCF needed more GOP observers and challengers?
After taking testimony for nearly seven hours, the Senate Oversight Committee is adjourned.

Do I have a fun story for your Friday scrolling!

Isn’t this a beautiful plate? I love it so much that I splurged the $5 to buy a new one when I renewed with @MichSoS a few weeks ago. (Like a responsible adult, BEFORE my birthday!) Image
Side note: did you know how easy it is to schedule an appointment online? It took me three seconds this morning. Seriously convenient. Image
But why do I need an appointment if I renewed online? That’s overkill!!!!
