Today is #GivingTuesday & we are using day to highlight two funds that will provide support to Black-identifying and Indigenous children, youth, and families that we serve. There is a significant over-representation of Black and Indigenous children in the child welfare system.
As we work to #decolonize our practices, move towards reconciliation, we are listening. And what we are hearing from our front line staff is that Black and Indigenous children, youth, and families need support to connect to their culture and communities.
We are also hearing from donors that they would like a way to direct their giving specifically to these groups and the support they need. We are pleased to share that this is possible through the Truth and Reconciliation Fund and the Out of Many One People Fund.
Both funds will be overseen by committees that will include staff as well as others who know and understand these communities best. You can find out more about both funds at this link facs-foundation.myshopify.com
Have you read the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report and the #94CallstoAction? The first 5 relate directly to child welfare. Here's a link nctr.ca/assets/reports…
