The COVID update was scheduled to begin 5 minutes ago. I'll live tweet it here whenever it does start.
Here's the graph of new daily cases and the 7-day rolling average:
And here's the graph of active cases:
We're about to start.
You can watch here: novascotia.ca/stayinformed/w… .
McNeil repeats the numbers above. Says 2 cases are school based, deets to come from Strang.
McNeil: new testing for rotational workers. When they come home, they're still under restrictions, but they'll be tested between Day 6 and 8 after their return.
McNeil: no change to restrictions on essential workers.
Looks like an extension of the Halifax restrictions is coming.
Strang: there's a new case at Parkview school. No details about that yet.
Strang: Citadel is closed to students until Monday. We're contacting close contacts. All will be tested and told to self-isolate for 14 days.
Strang: the cases outside of HRM are either connected to previously known cases or to travel.
Strang: the HRM restrictions are extended a week to Dec. 16. Bars and gyms closed, retail restricted, etc.
Strang: no non-essential into or out of HRM. Gathering limits of no more than 5.
Strang: modeling suggests that we'll have double-digit new daily cases for another week.
Strang: I can't make any promises about where we'll be on Dec. 16, but if we "buckle down" we might be able to relax some restrictions.
Strang: people are giving rotational workers a hard time. Don't do that.
Strang: the rules on rotational workers previously applied only to those who work in Canada. Now they apply to international rotational workers, too.
Strang: starting today, rotational workers can get a test on Day 6, 7, or 8 of their isolation. It doesn't end the limited isolation requirement.
Strang: the school is Park West in Clayton Park, not Park View (as stated upthread).
Strang: we're expanding asymptomatic testing across the province, but especially those who are 16-35 years old who have been at a social gathering.
Strang: no one is going to be fined because they showed up for testing. And no one will be turned away from testing.
Strang: in HRM, you can still go to the Dartmouth Sportsplex without an appointment. Outside of HRM, you gotta make an appointment on line.
Strang: the Pfizer vaccine will be approved as early as next week.
Strang: priority for vaccines is: long-term residents & staff, front line health care workers giving care to COVID patients, then older adults, starting with 80+
Strang: we're expecting a "very small amount" in December, then the first small regular delivery in January, and every week for 12 weeks small deliveries.
Strang: we expect that everyone who wants to be vaccinated can do so in 2021.
HRM COVID restrictions extended another week; 15 new cases in Nova Scotia on Friday halifaxexaminer.ca/featured/hrm-c…
Strang: around 40% of the cases in Nova Scotia are attributed to community spread
I've updated the map of advisories of potential COVID exposure, to remove lots of locations: google.com/maps/d/u/0/edi…
To be clear: the locations were removed because the advisories have expired.
