At some point, we have to ask what is the value of having such people - even if they’re sitting senators - coming on live TV to do their best impersonations of Alex Jones. We interviewers may think we’re challenging them but really it’s just allowing them to spread their disinfo.
I say this reluctantly, as someone who has interviewed my fair share of MAGA/Trump folks, including General Flynn, and as someone who believes in holding people to account with tough interviews. But conspiracy theorists who are just using your platform to mainstream hoaxes? Nope.
But having said that, if @JennaEllisEsq wants to make herself available for a challenging interview on my show tomorrow evening, the @MehdiHasanShow on @peacockTV live at 7pm Eastern, I do have a slot for her.

"It was as if my very presence in the White House had triggered a deep-seated panic, a sense that the natural order had been disrupted...For millions of Americans spooked by a Black man in the White House, [DJT] promised an elixir for their racial anxiety"

"Through Palin, it seemed as if the dark spirits that had long been lurking on the edges of the [GOP] - xenophobia, anti intellectualism, paranoid conspiracy theories, an antipathy toward Black and brown folks - were finding their way to center stage."

Obama is right to highlight #racialresentment over #economicanxiety when it comes to the GOP's messaging. He's also right to highlight the role of Palin, and of course by extension the hallowed John McCain!, in the run-up to Trump, as I have argued here:

It’s not often that you wake up to this 👀 Image
In case you’re wondering, I am at my naturalization ceremony. I’m becoming a U.S. citizen this morning, a dual U.S./UK national. It’s a socially-distanced ceremony but no welcome video from Trump @kumailn, just a letter. Image
Here’s the ‘fellow American’ welcome letter from Trump that I got. It’s not bad, by his standards. But he obviously didn’t write it - not just because of the pro-immigrant sentiment but also...there are no typos or spelling errors in it. I’m so used to his random Capitalizations. Image

Nice pivot from Supreme Court to Affordable Care Act from Biden right at the outset.

Good.
Amy Coney Barrett is anti ACA, says Biden. Boom. Pre-existing conditions. Boom. Insurance companies. Boom.

So far, so good.
"We're not elected for three years," says Trump, from the party that insisted Obama was only elected for three years, when it came to the Supreme Court.

It’s pretty simple. He says ‘we’re protecting pre existing conditions’ and Biden says ‘that’s a lie. You’re in court trying to get rid of them.’ Trump tries to change the subject and ramble and Biden says again ‘Aren’t you ashamed that you’re in court trying to get rid of them?’
People think Trump has some sort of magical power to lie, but the reality is that he gets away with it because we - politicians, the media, the public - let him get away with it. Be persistent. Be direct. Be blunt. Bring receipts. Don’t move on. Trump crumbles under pressure.
Since much of the media failed to do it for the past 4 years, Biden shouldn’t be afraid to call out lies as lies on Tuesday night. Say it again & again ‘Thats a lie Mr President. You’re lying to the American people again.’ And maybe even the occasional ‘Do you have no shame?’

I'm watching all these conservatives get upset about mean tweets about Amy Coney Barrett from people who aren't, btw, elected Democrats. Has anyone asked them if they've apologized for their party leader, the president, repeatedly praising + mocking *violence* against @AliVelshi?
Conservatives have mastered the art of performative outrage, of wallowing, of being victims, all while staying totally silent as their leader, the most powerful man in the country, bullies and abuses and smears and incites actual violence against his critics on a *daily* basis.
There should be a simple rule deployed by all media organizations: if you're an elected Republican who's never criticized Donald Trump's abusive, racist, sexist, violence-inciting rhetoric, you don't get to have a platform to pretend to be outraged by mean tweets from randoms.

If you ever had any doubt about the levels of entrenched, institutional Islamophobia within the British media, the man who wrote this just a few years ago is being considered for the chairmanship of the BBC:

Wonder how Muslim employees of the BBC feel about their possible future new chairman. Also wonder how gay BBC employees feel, given Charles Moore also wrote this:
