A Thread on Kerala Local Body Election-

5 Districts (Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Idukki) will go for polls tmrw. Remaining districts will go to booths on 10th & 14th respectively.

2) Elections will be taking place in 941 Grama Panchayats, 152 Block panchayats, 14 district panchayats, 86 Municipalities and 6 Corporations.

A total of 1199 local bodies will go to booth in 3 phases. Result is on 16th, Dec

-414 wards in 6 Corporations
-331 wards in 14 District Panchayats
-2080 wards in 152 Block Panchayats
-3078 wards in 86 Municipalities
-15962 wards in 941 Grama Panchayats will go 4 poll in 3 phases starting from 8/12/20. 2nd phase is on 10/12/20&3rd on 14/12/20.Result-16th

4) Last time(2015) LDF had the last laugh defeating the then ruling UDF. NDA made their presence felt innthat eleaction by winning their first ever municipality in Pkd and becoming major opposition in a few others.

5) In 2015 NDA won 933 Grama Panchayat Wards, 236 Municipal Wards, 51 Corporation Divisions, 21 Block Panchayat Divisions and 3 District Panchayat Divisions respectively.

They secured 13.28% votes

6) LDF gathered 37.36% votes while UDF halted at 37.23%. Others bagged the rest.

In 2016 assembly polls, LDF received 43.48%, UDF 38.81% and NDA 14.96%

In 2019 loksabha a reverse swing occurred helping UDF to get 47.48%. LDF dropped to just 36.29%. NDA crossed 15% (15.64%)
