To My Old Master, Colonel P.H. Anderson, Big Spring, Tennessee

Sir: I got your letter, and was glad to find that you had not forgotten Jourdan, and that you wanted me to come back and live with you again, promising to do better for me... 1/
... than anybody else can.

I have often felt uneasy about you. I thought the Yankees would have hung you long before this, for harboring Rebs they found at your house. 2/

Ridiculous job interview questions for Leonardo da Vinci. Go.

In 1482, Da Vinci wrote out a letter and a list of his capabilities and sent it off to the Duke of Milan, hoping to get employment.

"... I have methods for destroying every fortress (...) Also I can execute sculpture in marble, bronze and clay."

My dear Mr. Diego,

I’m writing this letter from a hospital room before I am admitted into the operating theatre. They want me to hurry, but I am determined to finish writing first, as I don’t want to leave anything unfinished. 1/ Image
Especially now that I know what they are up to. They want to hurt my pride by cutting a leg off.

When they told me it would be necessary to amputate, the news didn’t affect me the way everybody expected. 2/
No, I was already a maimed woman when I lost you, again, for the umpteenth time maybe, and still I survived.

I am not afraid of pain and you know it. It is almost inherent to my being, although I confess that I suffered, and a great deal, when you cheated on me... 3/

Bom dia.
Segunda-feira, gente. Nada faz sentido.

Addie’s mother died when she was 2 . Her father abandoned her. When she was 17, she married Ed. Addie’s daughter, Ruth, was born when she was 21.

When Addie and Ed broke up (1925), his mother had Addie sign a paper giving her temporary custody of Ruth. 1/
But the paper she signed actually gave her permanent custody. They tricked her and took Ruth away.

Addie married for a second time. She and her husband adopted a child. Ernie (second husband) died in 1967. They were together for more than 40 years. 2/
