An appalling moment at Speaker Pelosi's news conference. After months of stonewalling Trump efforts to pass targeted short-term relief for millions of Americans suffering in the pandemic, she changed her mind. 1/10 washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
A relief measure Pelosi had been blocking for months is now OK. Why? 'A total game-changer--a new president and a vaccine,' she explained. 2/10 washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
As policy, it made no sense. Why condition help for struggling Americans on the development of a vaccine? Didn't the lack of vaccine in recent months, with virus raging, make it *more* urgent to help people? Yet Pelosi wouldn't do it. 3/10
And why refuse to assist suddenly-unemployed Americans until Trump had been defeated? Pelosi's explanation revealed cold political calculations... 4/10 washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
But it also suggested the personal obsession driving her refusal to approve aid at a time when millions of Americans were out of a job, stretching to pay rent, struggling to buy food, desperately trying to make ends meet. 5/10
Short version: Pelosi suffered from terrible case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Remember the show she made of tearing up State of Union address? Calling worldwide pandemic the 'Trump virus'? Storming out of White House? Starting impeachment before even seeing evidence? 6/10
That is same Pelosi who blocked virus relief efforts. In election year, when relief bill would help millions of Americans but might also, as ancillary effect, boost Trump's re-election bid, she would not act. 7/10 washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
Now the election has gone Pelosi's way. And--Presto!--she's ready to deal. But don't ask her if she was wrong. Pelosi lashed out when reporter asked if it was mistake to block earlier efforts. 'That was not a mistake. It was a decision,' she said. 8/10
The good news is relief might be on the way for suffering Americans. Side benefit: Pelosi's ugly Trump obsession might be easing. Too bad she couldn't get over it months ago. 10/10 End. washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…

Must say, the Jen Psaki Russian hat brouhaha is amusing. Yes, that was her, all smiles, in 2014 with Russian FM Lavrov and spox Zakharova, plus John Kerry. Yes, she's wearing hammer-and-sickle hat they gave her. Russian contacts! 1/4 usatoday.com/story/news/fac…
It's amusing now, of course, in light of Russia frenzy Psaki's party later whipped up. Of course the circumstances of the picture were innocent, but so were circumstances of Jeff Sessions' meet-and-greet in 2016, about which he and others were questioned by Mueller. 2/4
Instead of laughing it off, Psaki immediately reached for the laziest, most accusatory response: Anyone who passes on such 'misinformation' is 'simply a puppet of the [Russian] propaganda machine.' Really! 3/4
If you watched Trump attorneys newser yesterday, you saw Sidney Powell say they had 'one very strong witness' who explained how the alleged Dominion-Smartmatic vote-changing operation worked. His 'stunning, detailed' affidavit was attached to Lin Wood lawsuit. From Powell: 1/6
Most people probably haven't had a chance to read the affidavit, so I'm going to post the whole thing--just eight pages, including a bunch of unexplained redactions.. You can read for yourself. The first two pages: 2/6
What standard of proof should apply to the Hunter Biden laptop story? GOP, conservatives should avoid falling into a trap--call it the 'can't prove untrue' trap--that Dems, media fell into with dossier. 1/10 washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
When Buzzfeed dumped entire dossier on web in January 2017, all could see it was preposterous. But who could say for absolute sure? New book OBSESSION reports Trump transition team's reaction to publication: 2/10 amazon.com/Obsession-Insi…
Now, imagine if Biden campaign took similar approach to Hunter Biden laptop story. They could address a few threshold questions like: Is the laptop Hunter Biden's? Did he drop it off at a repair shop and then fail to retrieve it? 3/10
Social media angle of Hunter Biden email story has dominated coverage. But remember NYP headline: 'Smoking-gun email reveals how Hunter Biden introduced Ukrainian businessman to VP dad.' 1/12 washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/column…
Yes, social media angle is important. But big story is: Did Hunter Biden introduce that Ukrainian businessman to his vice president dad? Important for two reasons... 2/12
First, we already know that a corrupt Ukrainian company, Burisma, put Hunter Biden on its board to win influence with Obama administration. NYP story suggests Burisma actually got something for its money. 3/12
On Democrats and court packing. Most won't talk about it. They say voters care more about health care. So: Think back to 2018 campaign. Democrats didn't want to talk about impeachment. Said voters cared more about health care. washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
But in 2018, while Democrats on campaign trail were not talking about impeachment in public, they were planning for impeachment in private. Then they won control of House, and look what happened. washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
So now: Apply lesson of 2018 to court packing issue today. Level of Democratic anger about SCOTUS is sky-high. Many believe Trump illegitimate, Trump's court picks illegitimate. If Barrett is confirmed, sky-high anger will rise. washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
What did Obama know? Newly-declassified Brennan notes highlight big mystery of Trump-Russia investigation. We know law enforcement, intel targeted Trump campaign. But what did President Obama himself know about it? washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
Brennan notes show CIA head briefed Obama on Russian intel that Hillary Clinton allegedly OK'd 'proposal from one of her foreign policy advisers to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian security service.' washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
Of course we know Clinton campaign was publicly linking Trump to Russian hacking. On 7/24/16 NYT reported the accusation was 'emerging as a theme of Mrs. Clinton's campaign.' washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/byron-…
