#TPLF militarily occupied #Eritrea in defiance of a UN border ruling since 2002 and launched an all-out assault on Eritrea in June 2016. Failure by #Ethiopia #Eritrea to pre-plan for continued aggression by this group would be a stunning dereliction of duty to regional security.
#TPLF commitment to continued aggression was clear, as was int'l community's total unwillingness to check or sanction its behavior. What were #Ethiopia and #Eritrea expected to do--sit and wait for the bombs to arrive? Well, they did. And Abiy is criticized for being ready???
Am not under any circumstances condoning the #Ethiopia gov's blockage of humanitarian relief. But int'l actors need to stop and think about they themselves set the stage for this conflict by creating a climate of impunity. (And then apply that thinking to #Uganda, BTW.)
