The point of "sex work is work" isn't to abolish the industry. It is "the oldest profession" because as long as humans have existed we have wanted companionship. Sex work is a service, they provide an experience. The point is that sex workers are fellow workers 🧵
And all fellow workers deserve a safe and meaningful work environment. The point of "sex work is work" is that the workers know their industry best and know how to make it better. We organize sex workers because there is power in a union, power to create meaningful change
Not just for your workplace but for the industry. All of the SWERF claims can be debunked by pointing to the root of the problem which is classism. Sex workers have always been stigmatized and dehumanized and seen as lower than the lowest classes
Even though those in the highest echelon of class seek their services. Sex workers are dehumanized and degraded and assumed to be many negative traits that we won't repeat, ask a sex worker about their experience. But it takes business skills, market savvy,
AV production skills, digital media skills, financial skills (taxes are a NIGHTMARE), social skills. A sex worker's resume could include Adobe Creative software, Quickbooks, grip and gaffer skills, camera operation and composition, makeup artistry, tailoring, interior design
The list goes on. Sex work is work because sex work is labor, it's being an actor but you don't denigrate actors. It's being a dancer but you don't denigrate dancers. But because being open about sex is seen as lower class, it follows that adding a sexual nature to those
Thus changes it from a respected profession into one that should be dehumanized. We don't insult someone for enjoying manual labor, for enjoying creative labor, for enjoying social labor, we don't insult anyone for finding their passion in work
But because being open about sex is so stigmatized as lower class and because bodily autonomy, especially for women, is so out of the realm of imagination for the dominant classes, then sex workers must be only and always exploited
Because who knows what's better for workers than those outside the profession? Who knows what's better for workers than those who have never stepped foot on the shopfloor of those workers? Nobody but the workers themselves including sex workers
Sex workers don't need to be saved, they're not your Pretty Woman to save, they're human beings who deserve a safe and fair work environment just like every single other fellow worker out there.
Sex work is work. Sex workers are fellow workers. And if you disagree, this union may not be the one for you. We stand in support with all members of the working class regardless of their employment status and profession.
Organizing is the tool to emanicapte all members of the working class. All industries should be organized because our power against the ruling class lies in our labor and the surplus profit we put into the pockets of the capitalists. With us, the capitalists have nothing. End 🧵
Apparently we need to make it clear that this thread was written by a former full service sex worker and based on their real lived experience and class analysis as a poor working class person. 🤷♀️

Love seeing the lists people put us on. Favorite so far has been "Dorks" because yes, actually, we are. Have you seen the running gag of supposedly having a Star Trek labor meme quota? Come on, we don't work on this magazine because we have friends.
Please god someone be our friend we're getting really tired of hanging out with contributors and editors and @IWWFJU because we all just end up yelling about how much we hate capitalism and our schedules can never line up for this D&D game we've been planning for WEEKS.
So @VortexDoughnuts fired employees for following CDC guidelines and trying to keep their fellow workers and their communities safe. Profits over people, even small businesses.
Yes we are absolutely back on our bullshit naming and shaming companies that don't care about their workers when they try to do the right thing because an injury to one is an injury to all! #iww#1u
