A sheep thread ⬇️

Now some of you may remember I’ve got a stinking cold and sheep work to do today.

It didn’t start well.

First the mule wouldn’t start.

Then Farmer forgot me, or rather to help me get the mule, the bits and sort the race out again after the weekends clean

I’m in and out of the mule (once it finally started) opening and shutting gates.

Farmer gets a stern talking to.

Then our yard & road is filled with HiLine and Western Power vehicles who are here to turn the power off (oops forgot that)

So I have to walk it with the buckets of food. The girls mobbed me, really mobbed me. Normally this would be ok but with barely any energy, I struggled to keep hold of the buckets and to stay standing.

Get the girls around to the race, Farmer isn’t ready...

He’s upended the boluses all over the cab of the mule and is scrabbling to pick them all up. Half the girls go in, the other half leg it. Then they all legged it.

I realise shit, we haven’t put the hurdles back up to divide the pen. I run to do this while Farmer and FIL..

Get the girls back in. Finally everything’s sorted and then it tips down on us. So now we’re wet, the ewes are wet and it’s getting muddy again. Why do we do this to ourselves?

The girls aren’t playing ball today and it was a hard slog, but 124 are now fluked, bolused and..

Vaccinated. Only the lambs and rams to go. Why not leave it for another day? Well Heptavac has to be used up in a very short time span, ie today. So we trudge down to the lambs, make a pen and they beautifully went in (so did the rams too on their turn) and the sun is out

What started crappy got better and I get the afternoon off to curl up with the boys on the sofa and feel pathetically sorry for ourselves! So not too bad now 😂

I’m phoning in sick for the rest of the week tho 😂😂
