Moderna doesn't report quite so high Vaccine Efficacy for over 65s: 86.4%.
"The VE in this analysis when stratified by age
group was 95.6% (95% CI: 90.6%, 97.9%) for participants 18 to <65 years of age and 86.4%
(95% CI: 61.4%, 95.5%) for participants ≥65 years of age."
"Throughout the safety follow-up period to date, there
were three reports of facial paralysis (Bell’s palsy) in the vaccine group and one in the placebo
group"
I think Pfizer had 4 Bell's Palsy in vaccine and 0 in placebo, so that's 7 cases for 35k inoculated with either.
If I'm doing the math right, there was 1 case of Bell's palsy for every 5,000 vaccinated across both Pfizer and Moderna mRNA trials, vs. 1 out of 35k in placebo arms. Could be something or could be a fluke.
But don't take my word for it.
From the FDA's analysis of Moderna's vaccine:
"The frequency of serious adverse events was low (1.0% in the mRNA-1273 arm and 1.0% in the placebo arm), without meaningful imbalances between study arms."
That sounds good.
Moderna's final analysis of Vaccine Efficacy:
11 Covid cases in Vaccine Arm
185 cases in Placebo Arm
94.1% Efficacy
Only 86.4% in 65+: 4 cases vs. 29 cases.
If you lump Moderna results with Pfizer (both are mRNA), you get about 90% VE in elders.
The Moderna vaccine starts to work about 14 days after the first dose:
Pfizer vaccine:
8 cases in vaccine group, 162 cases in placebo group
Moderna vaccine:
11 cases in vaccine group, 185 in placebo group
Total:
19 cases in vaccine group, 347 in placebo group
This stuff works.
Somebody should go through the Moderna fda.gov/media/144434/d…
and Pfizer vaccine FDA analyses fda.gov/media/144245/d…
and add together the results to double the sample sizes, such as for adverse events.
Also, where do the two mRNA vaccines differ much?
The Moderna vaccine trial was was held up for a month due to the Warp Speed requirement they recruit more nonwhite volunteers. (Whites volunteer faster on average). This kept them from announcing success before the election.
Now it turns out vaccine works the same for all races

Joe Biden, Esq.: "And let's have a big hand for Kamala Harris, the first Vice-President to be black and American Indian. I mean, Native Indian. No, she's American-Asian. Sorry, Asian-Asian. I mean, she's a Person of Colored. Just look at her!"
I look forward to Joe trying to remember the phrase "Tamil Brahmin" in reference to Harris:
"Kamala, I'm proud to say, is America's first ever Vice President to be Top Ramen."
And who can forget Joe Biden's moving eulogy for George Floyd?
"We are gathered here today to remember our dearly beloved Boy George. I mean, Pink Floyd."
“That bastard isn’t gonna get away with this. I mean, what is going on in this country when a scumsucker like that can get away with sandbagging a Doctor of Education? You're talking to a Doctor of Education!” -- Dr. Jill Biden, "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '20"
"You scurvy shyster bastard," I said. "Watch your language! You're talking to a Doctor of Education!...Pay no attention to this swine," I said to the hitchhiker. "He can't handle the medicine. Actually, we're both Doctors of Education ..."

We were somewhere around DC on the edge of the city when the drugs began to take hold. And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car. "What are these goddamn animals?"
In solid blue California, 2 men indicted on 41 counts of submitting 8,000 fraudulent voter registrations this year in plot to be elected mayor of ho-hum Hawthorne, CA.
This guy running for mayor of Hawthorne, CA submitted 8,000 fraudulent voter registrations over the summer in a city where no more than 30,000 votes were cast in the mayor's race on 11/3/2020.
Looking into the vote fraud indictments in Hawthorne, CA, I see that Carlos Antonio De Bourbon-Montenegro advertises himself as "I am a Ceremonial High Magician & Occult Book Author. I am an initiate of the sacred mysteries of Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda."
In "Borat," "Kazakhs" stand in, in Sacha Baron Cohen's mind, for his ancestral enemies, the Cossacks (the Christian Slavic cavalrymen whose pogrom ruins the wedding of the daughter of Tevye, whom SBC played in a Cambridge production of "Fiddler on the Roof").
If you're wondering, Cossacks were Christian Russian serfs who ran away to the Russian-Islam steppe frontier, where they adopted the horseback-lifestyle of their Muslim Kazakh enemies. Later, they became the Czar's light cavalry, and were notorious during anti-Semitic pogroms.
It's funny that, despite the immense amount of cultural commentary generated by critics trying to explain Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat" movies, virtually no critics noticed that SBC makes fun of "Kazakhs" as vengeance on Cossacks.
To my mind, only one man can be America's Greatest Vice President: Richard Johnson.
He was elected as Martin Van Buren's VP in 1836 with the support of Andy Jackson and Davy Crockett. He ran on the slogan:
Rumpsey Dumpsey, Rumpsey Dumpsey
Colonel Johnson killed Tecumseh
After the Panic of 1837, Vice President Richard Johnson took nine months off from the duties of the Vice Presidency, such as they are, to manage his financially ailing tavern in Kentucky.
Here's the president of this country where dominant caste and subordinate caste correlate with height rather than skin color and his daughter visiting two rather tall Americans:
The dominant caste in this country that was much in the news in 1994 is so extraordinarily tall that the president's daughter, who lists her height as 6'4" or 6'5", was able to recently find a rich husband who is considerably taller than her:
