Ok, that I file under "an inability to play well w/ others" (admittedly a broad definition). But you've long had the star power to strike out on your own when desired, which is fine. Yet those of us who haven't had long, celebrated outlet-hopping careers don't have that option...
...and while I have no problem w/ your, or Matt's, or Glenn's choices, I am vexed by the irresponsible, irrationally exuberant & breathless way media & tech reporters are presenting substack as a magic solution to the hellish landscape that I and far too many others are stuck in.
Your issues with "the msm" aside, you, @sullydish, can walk in and out of it as you wish, while those of us w/o your (or Matt's, or Glenn's) connections / pedigree are left with our faces pressed against the glass because the best way to get a job is still to already have one...
...and too many media critics and reporters are fawning all over your built-in audience and ability to generate subscriptions as if it proves that substack is a viable model for anyone other than people like you instead of focusing on real problems with the media business.

Good morning. Even though I'm not nearly important enough to have been asked to predict journalism things for @NiemanLab, I'd like to offer some. I hope I am proved wrong about all of them.
(thread)
1. "Open press" events will remain dead post-vaccine: Because of the pandemic, both the Trump White House and Biden campaign/transition have limited access to in-person events, news conferences, and briefings to a small circle of deep-pocketed news outlets. While these limits...
...are supposed to be temporary, they have also magnified the advantages enjoyed by the participating outlets (and the reporters who work for them) & helped insulate both the White House and campaign/transition from questioning by those with differing backgrounds/ perspectives...
NEW: As @JoeBiden introduces @PeteButtigieg as his Transportation Secretary-designate, activists grow increasingly vexed at the 46th President's largely conventional picks. But more senior progressives say they need to have more faith in Biden's sincerity. independent.co.uk/voices/biden-d…
One veteran activist warned that progressives are "getting too wrapped up into the personality of it all" instead of focusing on what policies the Biden administration will pursue. independent.co.uk/voices/biden-d…
The former @BernieSanders staffer complained that the angst over Biden's picks are never satisfied, "Like when...the progressives who said he needs people of color see a pick like Cedric Richmond and immediately say: ‘No, not that one!’" independent.co.uk/voices/biden-d…
Stephen Miller says Trump electors will be voting and sending results to Congress.
(They'll be worthless because they won't have the seals of the state Secretaries of State, though)
Miller is now repeating the false claims @realDonaldTrump made in a tweet last night about underage, non-citizen, and other illegal voters voting in swing states.
"We have open election challenges in all the contested states," Miller says.
(Courts have rejected all of their challenges. Every. Single One.)
NEW: The fact @realDonaldTrump thinks his conservative judicial appointees will save him shows he doesn’t have a clue who they are or what they believe about the law, say former White House counsel officials and legal experts. independent.co.uk/voices/trump-l…
“That’s the opposite of what conservative justices are — that’s activist as fuck… wading into the three branches of government,” said one former White House counsel’s office attorney. independent.co.uk/voices/trump-l…
The former official, a veteran GOP lawyer, said @realDonaldTrump “continues to believe...because he was the one who nominated them and put them on the various levels of the federal court system, that they'll be more inclined to hear his side of the case.” independent.co.uk/voices/trump-l…
I’ve had a @LinkedIn account since 2008. I have over 2100 connections. I have even paid for the “LinkedIn Premium” service.
I am also nearly 100% certain that the countless hours I’ve spent on LinkedIn in hopes that it would help me get hired somewhere has been a total waste.
NOW: @PressSec has opened her briefing by gloating about a SCOTUS opinion prohibiting churches from hosting large gatherings during a pandemic, and because she's a petty, unprofessional hack, is playing video of Democratic politicians and Chris Cuomo for...reasons.
.@PressSec, a taxpayer-funded spokesperson for the executive branch, is attacking the Governor of New York for commenting on the above-mentioned SCOTUS case.
Q: Does the President still think he has a path to win?
A: [incoherence about "legal votes"] and refers question to campaign she has been serving as a paid spokesperson for part-time.
