#COVID19 thread – Trigger alert. I am so angry with America today. I am angry at people who call #COVID19 a hoax or refuse to wear masks and physically distance. 1/

I am angry at the government who has failed to provide any leadership to control this pandemic. Their inaction has killed over 300,000 Americans. 2/

Elected officials are denying critical access to basic needs arguing over $600 payments and corporate liability protection while humans are hungry, lack shelter, and are dying. I am sick and tired of the individualism, racism, and the lack of empathy that plagues this country. 3/

A family member is currently in the ICU with #COVID19. He has no risk factors for doing poorly, but he is critically ill and going to be intubated today. We cannot be with him. We cannot hold his hand. He is alone. He is scared. He is human and his life matters. 4/

This should not be happening, but his life means nothing to many Americans. He is just another Afro Latino whose life is disposable to 50% of Americans. I am so f*cking angry. 5/

We had to talk to him by FaceTime today to tell him it would be okay. We want to go and be there at the bedside, but we cannot. This is inhumane but necessary. His having COVID is not necessary. It was preventable. Very simple actions could have kept him safe. 6/

I do not know what to do with my anger and hurt today so I am just going to say this – Please…wear a mask. Cover the nose too. Stay home if you can. Wash your hands. Do not travel for the holidays. Congress stop this madness and do your job. Americans need relief today. 7/

This is not a hoax. This is real and real humans are suffering. Each of us must take responsibility and do the right thing. We must help each other and demand that the government do its job. If you live in Georgia, please vote for progress and humanity. 8/

Do better America. We must do better. This is not a drill. This is real life. I sincerely pray none of you ever have to FaceTime a loved one who is critically ill before they get intubated. For those of you who have - I am sorry and feel your pain. 9/9

Also, please get the vaccine when it is available to you. If you do not want to do it for yourself do it for your neighbor.
