1/THREAD: THE FIRST TWO HOURS OF $ABXX TRADING

$ABXX began trading on the Candian @Aequitas_NEO exchange this morning. 433k shares traded in the first two hours with most early trades “pinned” within a few cents of $4.00CAD. This thread contains my analysis of the early trading.
@Aequitas_NEO 2/DISCLAIMER: I’m a pro futures trader, not an equity guy, so I definitely welcome correction and critique from pro equity traders who know the mechanics of the market better than I do.
@Aequitas_NEO 3/The vast majority of early trades have been within a few cents of $4.00CAD, and the vast majority of those trades had Sell Firm code 001 or 212 on the selling side of the transaction, suggesting a small handful of sellers doing most/all of the selling.
@Aequitas_NEO 4/This confirms exactly what I predicted in macrovoices.com/ErikOnABXX is happening: A few early angel investors (whose cost basis from 2018 is well below $1) are taking profits. Most likely, they are “free-riding” their positions, meaning…
@Aequitas_NEO 5/…they will sell enough to recover their original investment capital and then hold their remaining shares long-term knowing they can’t possibly lose money no matter what because they already took their initial capital back out of the market. This is an extremely popular angel
@Aequitas_NEO 6/ investor strategy. This selling is capping the price at C$4 for now. This trading is below the highest trades on NML.TO before the merger closed, and hence this is exactly the “price dip on early angel investors taking profits” that I predicted in the podcast.
@Aequitas_NEO 7/The frustrating part is that a whole bunch of people (myself included) want to be buying this dip, but we’re locked out of the market because our brokers have yet to activate the ABXX:CN symbol. This means the buyers aren’t even in the market yet!
@Aequitas_NEO 8/After staying “pinned” at $4 for the first hour and a half, the price is starting to come off, with the low trade of the day as of this tweet at $3.90. This means the sellers still have plenty of shares to move, but the would-be buyers are still locked out of the market!
@Aequitas_NEO 9/I won’t be surprised if this pulls the price lower through the rest of today’s session. I want to be buying here, but so far @IBKR isn’t cooperating. :(

Eventually the brokers will get their act together, the buyers will have access to the market,
@Aequitas_NEO @IBKR 10/and eventually the early angels looking to “free ride” their positions will have sold the shares they need to sell. At that point I think the stage will be set for the stock to move considerably higher.

/END THREAD
@Aequitas_NEO @IBKR It looks like two sellers are doing almost all of the selling in @abaxx_tech $ABXX...

1/THREAD

Abaxx Technologies @abaxx_tech starts trading tomorrow morning under symbol ABXX:CN.

Based on last trade of .34 on NML.TO, $ABXX should start trading around $4.08.

I'll be very curious to see where it closes after the first day of trading...
@abaxx_tech 2/...my original thesis (described in a podcast at macrovoices.com/ErikonABXX) was that early angels taking profits should cause a very buyable dip in price right after public trading begins.

I was hoping for that outcome so I could add to my already sizable position. But...
@abaxx_tech 3/...unfortunately I'm losing confidence in that view. Most angels seem to share my desire to buy more, not to take profits.

But let's see what tomorrow brings...

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am an angel investor in the company and already hold a large position in the stock.

1/ THREAD

I'm about to block 100+ people and thought I should first explain why.

I'll start by retweeting someone I do NOT intend to block. This is a good example of how grown-ups disagree respectfully. This person strongly disagrees with me, so they make cogent (cont'd)
2/...arguments expressing an opposing view. Nothing wrong with that, and I respect your right to your opinion, @HotSwapGaming.

But it literally took me 20+ minutes of sifting thru hatred and vitriol to find just ONE civilized response to cite as exemplifying respectful discourse
@HotSwapGaming 3/ This all started when I retweeted a video by a teenager whom I thought was particularly succinct in calling BS on the hypocrisy crisis that has gripped society.

Now for the record, I disagree with her on a whole LOT. She was very one-sided, and obviously a Trump supporter.

1/THREAD: AM I MISSING SOMETHING OR IS MNUCHIN ON DRUGS?

Calling on my physical market tweeps @Big_Orrin @phemsworth for clarify...

Seems like the overnight rally in CL timespreads was driven by Mnuchin committing to "several hundred million" bbl of storage US Gov't will
@Big_Orrin @phemsworth 2/ supposedly provide. I heard that like "We'll be shipping one million test kits by tomorrow" or whatever they said a few weeeks ago - utter nonsense.

But market seems to be taking it seriously. Am I missing something? SPR spare capacity is 75mm bbl and it would take a long
@Big_Orrin @phemsworth 3/ time to fill with lots of competition for the needed pipes. I see ZERO realistic chance of US Gov't building a couple hundred mm bbl of storage capacity in the time needed.

Am I missing something? Why is market taking this seriously? @anasalhajji #OOTT

1/THREAD: FALSE INVENTORY SIGNAL #OOTT

Several weeks ago I predicted that we would soon see much smaller Cushing builds or even a Cushing or product draw. I went on to explain the market would misinterpret that signal. I think it's happening now.

Explanation follows...
2/ Everyone one has been focused on the question of "When will Cushing fill up to the brim?"

The answer is never. It is ALREADY as full as it can get. They need to reserve a few empty tanks for blending operations and for other operational reasons. So reaching working CAPACITY
3/ won't happen.

Think about what happens when something is FULL. No more can be added. So the size of additions falls to zero.

The smaller Cushing build and Gasoline draw reported by API are a very important signal that Cushing is ALREADY AS FULL AS IT CAN GET. No more can be

1/THREAD: #OOTT CRUDE OIL TRADER QUIZ

Please ask yourself, "Who will buy CLM0 futures between April 28 (Thu) and May 19 (expiry).

Think hard about your answer before reading the rest of this thread!

@JavierBlas
@JavierBlas 2/ If your answer involved retail investors buying thru an ETP, forget that. USO, the biggest crude ETP will be out of CLM0 by tomorrow's close. The other ETPs are following suit. ETP inflows will go to later contracts only.
@JavierBlas 3/ If your answer involved anyone trading from a retail futures account, forget it. Most FCMs (futures brokers) have forbidden their clients from opening orders on Jun or Jul CL futs. Retail CANNOT buy this contract.

1/THREAD: MARGIN-INDUCED $CL TIMESPREAD RALLY

CME Group raised energy margins across the board, but increases are disproportionately larger on % basis on CL timestread margins than on outright margins.

My hypothesis on flat price and timespread rally last 36 hrs is that...
2/ two things are happening simultaneously.

First, we're getting a bounce in everything as increased margin requirements force both outright shorts and timespread shorts (a VERY crowded trade) to lighten up short positions in order to meet increased margin requirements.
3/ Second, and less obviously, I believe holders of short timespreads are re-evaluating their strategy. They see short timespreads as the better "pure play" on storage expectations, but outright shorts are a decent proxy and now suddenly the margin requirement is considerably
