Today in pulp I look at the scandalous history of lady jeans!

Well there's a turn-up...

The denim jean and its predecessor the dungaree have a long history, and were traditionally seen as work wear for men.

But WWII changed all that...

As women headed for the factories and shipyards they found that a sturdy denim bib-n-brace, paired with a stout headscarf, was the way to go!

As #COVID19 continues to spread you may be wondering how the world of stock photography is reacting to the pandemic.

Well, don't worry: they've brought their A game...

Pictures are vital for news stories, and as the press coverage of #coronavirus increases so does the demand for stock photography to illustrate these.

In a sensitive and responsible way of course...

The speed of the pandemic has meant that stock photography has had to move rapidly to handle it. Many have subtly retooled older images to be more relevant to the current outbreak...

Time once again for my occasional series "Women with great hair fleeing gothic houses!"

And today I'm looking back at the books of Dorothy Eden.

Dorothy Eden wrote over 40 gothic romances between 1940 and 1982 and remains one of the best known names of the genre.

Must... flee... cats...

In the 1980s if you wanted a home computer behind the Iron Curtain you had two choices: buy a locally produced clone of a Western one...

...or navigate your way around import controls and try to get a Western one. It was tricky, but it was possible.

Today in pulp: what name should you give your pulp vigilante anti-hero? Geoff? Sebastian? Todger?

Well funnily enough there are some rules about this. To learn more come this way...

By the end of the 1960s pulp was growing tired of swinging superspies. Dry martinis, world domination and exotic locations weren't really cutting it any more. The audience was changing.

The darker side of the '60s counterculture was causing quite a moral panic by the decade's end. Hippies, bikers, cultists and radicals were dominating the tabloid mind.
