A police officer will face murder charges after shooting a mother and son in Tarlac in a case that has sparked public outrage.

DOJ Prosecutor General Atty. Ben Malcontento says the police officer who fatally shot unarmed neighbors in Paniqui, Tarlac will be in jail as long as the criminal case charged against him is pending in court.

Malcontento on previous administrative and criminal cases vs. suspect Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca: We received reports, but we still have to get pieces of evidence insofar as previous charges are concerned. What we are certain at this point in time are the murder charges

Malcontento assures that justice will be served 'very swiftly': Given the strong evidence that we have, we are very certain of the conviction of this accused

Malcontento: We leave it to the judge whether custody will be transferred to NBI or to any other custodial center

Malcontento on calls to review all administrative and criminal cases against police officers, including those dismissed: We will leave it to the PNP. But insofar as the DOJ is concerned, if there are cases filed before us, we will act accordingly

Malcontento on the shooting incident: We are certain of conviction. The accused now, we are certain that he will rot in jail.
