Very important section I just found reading the 5000+ page government spending bill:
On page 2487 is a repeal of Section 711 of USC Title 18, which provided six months in jail for misuse of the "Smokey Bear" character or name.
Technically, you could go to jail for six months right now for - for example - advertising pipe tobacco with Smokey the Bear on it smoking from a pipe.
When this spending bill comes into place, letting Smokey smoke will be effectively legalized.
Until this omnibus bill passes, misusing the phrase "Give a hoot, don't pollute" is also be a 6-months-in-jail crime.
The phrase will be legalized for public use under the new spending bill.
I’m currently spending ten days with family in Massachusetts which is why I’m meticulously analyzing the wildest line of a 6000 page budget bill instead of filming protests and stuff.
I know y’all think I’m being ridiculous about this, but I think it’s a fascinating case study in government bureaucracy.
My research has taken me to the official Smokey Bear Guidelines document authorized by the Wildlife Service, which references criminal penalties for misuse.
This document is incredible, and will have to be re-written following the Omnibus bill.
Smokey Bear’s 18-page regulation guideline punishable by jail includes instructions for those who wear the bear costume, including to always use the Smokey voice modulator.
“There shall be at least one uniformed escort to accompany the Bear. The escort shall guide the Bear at the elbow. The escort must be knowledgeable about Smokey Bear and wildfire prevention.”
Someone got paid your tax dollars to write this.
I like that “Bear” is capitalized.
Pages 15 and 16 of the Smokey Bear regulations (whose criminal enforcement the Omnibus Bill will repeal) explain proper handling of the Bear costume.
It must be kept under lock and key with a sign-in/sign-out system and a warning label when not in use.
The repeal of USC Title 18 Section 711 providing criminal penalties for misusing Smokey Bear was integrated into the Omnibus bill from Republican @RepSteveChabot’s H.R.498 from early 2019.
Bear lovers, you owe your thanks to Congressman Chabot.
Whoever made this account (I promise it isn’t me!) is taking a damn big bet on Trump signing the bill.
Toward the beginning of the Omnibus spending bill at page 415 and 416 is a quarter billion dollars for "enhanced border security" for the nations of Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Oman.
Not less than $150,000,000 of it shall be for Jordan though.
If you skip about about 1000 pages from the Jordanian border security funding section of the US government budget, you'll find that "not less than" $1.65 billon is for Jordan's government overall, but they're required to use $425,000,000 of the American dollars for military.
In total, page 1310 of the new US budget explains that a bit over $6 billion in taxpayer money will be for financing foreign militaries, but by law, at least $3.3 billion of that will have to be for Israel.
Trump supporters continued to rally Saturday in Phoenix, AZ, despite the electoral college formally voting for Joe Biden.
The "Stop the Steal" supporters continue alleging fraud and hope to challenge the results ahead of the January 6th congressional vote to certify the results.
"Imagine this, that you get to go back home, once we conquer the hill. Donald Trump is returned to being the president," said AZ Congressman @DrPaulGosar. "Amazing things will happen in four more years."
"Four more years!" the crowd in Phoenix chanted. "Stop the steal!"
Rep. @DrPaulGosar says he has friends in CIA and forensic auditing of banking industry, who tell him "it is easy to see contamination," of the election.
"They don't wanna open up and talk about it."
@RepGosar's uncut speech, filmed by Sean Campbell:
THREAD: On Saturday, militia activists marched to the GA State Capitol where they joined forces with Trump supporters holding a "Stop the Steal" rally.
The militia groups included Chris Hill's GA-based "III% Security Force" and Eric Braden's TX-based "Southern Patriot Council."
The militia groups rallying outside the GA Capitol were confronted by Atlanta Antifa, who led with a shield wall and were armed with semi-auto rifles and at least one shotgun behind it.
Police kept the sides separate.
"Go home to fucking your cousin!" one yelled.
Antifa raised their fists and chanted "fists up, fight back!"
Three women on the right-wing side got on their knees and prayed. "Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil."
PHOTOS I captured last night: After looting a #BlackLivesMatter banner from Asbury United Methodist Church, the Proud Boys pose with it before setting it on fire outside Harry's Bar in Washington DC.
Earlier in the evening, Proud Boy argued with police who faced them with riot shields as antifascist activists stood behind.
From earlier in the day: Proud Boys were a large aspect of the "March for Trump." Many wore the standard outfit of a black and gold-rimmed shirt (and plate carrier) but others added accessories like a gorilla outfit, kilts, and Burger King paper crowns.
My clip of Nick Fuentes getting Trump supporters to chant "destroy the GOP" went viral. Here's more.
He says he no longer identifies as a Repub, but a Trump supporter & nationalist that will only "vote for Republicans that support an end to all legal and illegal immigration."
Fuentes was very clear about his intentions: Saying that he feels his group isn't represented by senate Republicans, he explicitly encouraged Trump supporters to sit out the Georgia election to throw it to Democrats.
Tonight Proud Boys roved through Washington DC looking for "antifa" to confront, and police generally tried to stop them.
In one incident at K and 14th, police tried to form a line between them and an antifa group, but PB's got by and began exchanging water bottle throws.
As Proud Boys approached antifa, MPD maced the Proud Boys to hold them back.
Water bottle throwing over the police's heads continued, one hitting my camera and causing a piece to fall off (which I found! - no problem), until police pushed the antifa group in the other direction.
As Proud Boys continued to pursue antifa, police struggled to stay in the way.
One PB said his "freedom of travel" was being infringed before saying "fuck em" and flanking around.
One PB had a pushing match with a cop, while another toward the end of this clip was arrested.
