Leadership of Umar R.A.

Umar R.A would roam the streets of medina at night to help his people.
When it was the year of the famine, Umar R.A took pains to ensure that adequate relief reached all people, and that there were no persons in the city who went to sleep hungry.
One night as usual Umar R.A went on his round. He was accompanied by his slave Aslam. As he strolled from street to street all was quiet and the people seemed to be asleep. Umar R.A thought to himself, “Thank God, there is no one in this city whom the famine has afflicted.”
Then as Umar R.A turned a corner, he saw a cottage where light was burning, and from where the sound of the weeping of the children was heard. Umar R.A went to the cottage. He saw that the lady of the house was cooking something on the hearth, and the children were crying.
Umar R.A knocked at the gate, and addressing the lady of the house, Umar R.A enquired why were the children crying. She said that they were crying because they were hungry.
“And what are you cooking”, asked Umar R.A. The lady said that in the kettle there was only water and stones. That was to while away the children that food was being cooked for them. She hoped that exhausted the children would go to sleep.
Hearing this tale of woe, Umar R.A felt guilty. He had thought that because of the arrangements made by him, no one was afflicted in the city and here was a family which was starving. Umar R.A said to the lady that he would arrange relief for her family immediately.
Umar R.A went to the Baitul Maal (House of Treasury).
There he put the necessary provisions in a bag and carried the bag to the cottage. His slave insisted that he would carry the bag, but Umar R.A said that he would carry his burden himself.
Umar R.A handed over the bag of provisions to the lady. Umar R.A sat by the hearth and helped the lady cook the meals. When the meals were ready the children were awakened and served with the delicious meals.
As the children ate to their fill and were satisfied, they smiled the smile of happiness. Seeing the destitute children smile Umar R.A also felt happy.
Umar R.A enquired of the lady whether there was none to support. She said that the father of the children had died, and there was no body to support. Whatever little was in the house had been gradually used up and they were starving since the last three days.
Umar R.A asked the lady why she had not brought her distress to the notice of the Caliph. The lady said that in spite of her poverty she had some sense of self-respect and she could not go and beg the Caliph for any favor.
The lady added that it was incumbent on the Caliph to ascertain that there was no one in his charge who was starving.

Umar R.A said, “You are right.
Please excuse me for the remissness in the past. For the future it will be my responsibility to see that your wants are satisfied”
And when the lady realized that the man who had come to her relief was the Caliph himself, she felt satisfied that the Caliph had discharged his onerous responsibilities creditably.

Journey of Umar R.A to Jerusalem :

When Muslims took over Jerusalem and Umar R.A setup journey to Jerusalem with his slave for peace treaty.
They were having one camel on which each of them rode by turn.
It was a unique scenario of Islamic equality and human dignity, that at times, the Caliph sat on the camel and the slave walked along holding the rein of the camel and at other times slave sat on the camel and Caliph walked along holding the rein of camel.
When Umar R.A was entering Jerusalem, the chance came to slave's for turn to ride on the camel. Though the slave offered his turn to the "Khalifah" but Umar the 'Commander of the Belivers' refused and remarked: "The honour of Islam (i.e., being Muslim) is enough for all of us."

@Hadithoftheday Leaves.
Allah says in Qur'an:
Once they had eaten from the Tree, " their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise." (Qur’an 7:22)
@Hadithoftheday By disobeying the Lord, Adam A.S and Eve A.S had made an abrupt transition from pure spiritual beings, dwelling with the Holy One and His blessed angels in Paradise, to humans with wills of their own.
None of the lying promises Shaytan had made to them, came true.
@Hadithoftheday Just as planned by Shaytan, once they had eaten from the Tree, " their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise." (Qur’an 7:22)

@Hadithoftheday Noah A.S & Lut A.S.
Allah says in Qur'an:
Allah has given examples of disbelievers: wives of Noah & Lut who married two of Our righteous servants, but betrayed them. Their husbands could not help them against Allah: it was said,’Both of you enter the Fire with the others. [66:10]
@Hadithoftheday You might be married to the best of men like Prophets of Allah & still not enter Jannah, like the wife of Lut A.S and Nuh A.S
@Hadithoftheday Noah A.S's wife:
Noah A.S's wife also died as a blasphemer. Nuh A.S's wife is cited in the Qur’an in Surah-Tahrim. Noah A.S's wife betrayed him by not believing in him. She would tell the people that her husband was crazy.
And then she was destroyed by flood.

@Hadithoftheday Staff/Stick (A'asah)
Allah says in Qur'an:
"Then We inspired to Musa, Strike with your staff the sea, and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain."
(Qur'an: Suraj Ash-Shu'araa 26: Verse 63)
@Hadithoftheday Allah further says in Qur'an:
"And We advanced thereto the pursuers.
And We saved Musa and those with him, all together.
Then We drowned the others.
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers."
(Qur'an: 26:64-67)
@Hadithoftheday The pharaoh who ruled Egypt was a tyrant who oppressed the descendants of Musa A.S. He used every means to demean and disgrace them. They were kept in bondage and forced to work for him for small wages or nothing.+
