Floods hit Kerala in 2019. Guruvayoor devaswom board, the governing body of Guruvayoor Krishnan temple, donated INR 5 Cr towards the CM relief fund. Then COVID struck in 2020. Again, the devaswom board donated INR 5 Cr of temple money to the relief fund. 2/n
Hindu activists, devotees and Hindu organisations filed several cases in Kerala High Court against the board's actions, questioning the board's decision to use the temple's money. 3/n
Judges who presided the hearing ruled that the devaswom board is just the governing body of the temple's properties, whereas the actual owner is Sri Guruvayoorappan. The judges condemned the board for its action. 4/n
Judges also noted that a secular government could not use money from the temple of one particular religion. They ordered the government to return the funds to the board. 5/n
Further, the judges also emphasised that the board's functions should be to maintain the temple, spread its culture and values etc. This judgment rules that the government cannot use the property of the temple as it pleases. 6/n
#HinduAwakening and #HinduUnity resulted in this victory. If this can happen in Kerala, it can happen anywhere in India. Let's resolve to unite for the cause of Dharma. May Lord Krishna bless those who braved for the cause of dharma in this case.
