1/8 Thread. Highlights of my open letter that I hope you will read/consider that I mailed this weekend to Joe/Jill Biden, Kamala , Alejandro Mayorkas, Ur Jaddou about their messaging last week to be patient on immediate border changes. Their concern…witnessattheborder.org/posts/122820
2/8… fear that we will create a crisis at the border and “have 2 mill people on our border.”…I’m under no illusion the letter will reach it’s intended audiences, so comments and RTs welcome. Dialogue is important now…
3/8…A humanitarian crisis exists TODAY Migrants died yesterday, today, and will tomorrow. In dangerous lands and the hell of the desert. Just because the crisis is not on US soil does not mean it’s not real and that it absolves our soul from the moral imperative to protect …
4/8 …the vulnerable. Invisibility conveniently shields the conscience. Suspend your mind from what exists today or in the past. Ideate what a process looks like under the belief that migration is a human right. A process that de-militarizes border and partners with foreign….
5/8…countries and NGOs to enable safe migratory routes. One that welcomes migrants with dignity and a frictionless and rapid process at the border; one that essentially eliminates detention. One that partners with NGOs to support and transition migrants into our communities…
6/8…And, finally one that provides legal and case management support under a fair and compassionate adjudication process with a bent for inclusion, not exclusion. Make this work an example to the world of what is possible. Lead by example. I understand…
7/8… it won’t be operational 21 Jan. But tell me on Day 1 you will: accept migration as a human right; surge resources to the migration routes (not just in US); engage and partner with advocates and NGOs to ideate an innovative new approach…
8/8 … show me a documented timeline of changes you will make with all involved along the migration routes (not just the US), and by when. Then I can be patient. How can I help?
1/10 .@DHS_Wolf As promised, here are 4 more questions I would ask you at your confirmation hearing had I been invited. Feel free to answer in the comments below. I'm still waiting for answers to yesterday's questions. I will attach in this thread in case you missed them...
2/10 1. April through July you expelled 84,000 Mexicans under Title 42 (CDC order). BUT, Mexico only reports receiving 46,200 under the US repatriation agreement with Mexico. That is a GAP of almost 38,000. If we est. the full pandemic, the GAP is 52,000 people....
3/10....Where did 52,000 people disappear to? Or, are we not expelling under the repatriation agreement for Title 42? If not, is there a formal agreement? What is the agreement with Mexico to ensure documentation and humanitarian treatment? Is it available? If not, why not?
1 /6 .@DHS_Wolf I was not invited to your confirmation hearing Wednesday so I will leave you some questions in this thread. I may have more this week, but feel free to put your answers to these 3 in the comments now.
2/6 1.Since 26 April Guatemala has required a negative COVID test for all deportations from the US (ICE and Guatemala confirmed). From 1 May to 18 Sept, 744 unaccompanied children (UACs) have been repatriated by the US to Guatemala....
3/6..If these children tested negative, as required, they are NO HEALTH RISK to the US. How can you expel children, alone, to Guatemala under Title 42 (CDC order) if they pose NO HEALTH RISK to the US?? This is illogical, right??
.@senrobportman will you follow your 2016 principles? Tell us. “We should let the people decide. This is not about the person, it’s about the principle.” dispatch.com/article/201603…
“We are in the midst of a highly charged presidential election that is less than eight months away, and this lifetime appointment could reshape the Supreme Court for generations.”
There has been over 100 ICE Air flights into Columbus GA and over 100 out this year shuffling detainees around the US. None disclosed by ICE. There was one today. How many witnesses will be disappeared? .@WitnessBorder
@HomelandKen and @DHS_Wolf have expelled almost 9000 children alone into just these areas as commodities available to these cartels. In violation of TVPRA Trafficing protection laws. Children. Children. Children.
Last week after observing deportations to Guatemala ramp up almost 2x I hypothesized that they may accepting more if deportees had either certificates of recovery from Covid or a negative test. I may have been right. @WitnessBorderes.noticias.yahoo.com/guatemala-reci…
Since August 27 the number of detainees in isolation or monitoring dropped from 850 to 468 which I thought might connect to the increased deportation flights. Server all days if flights also saw decreases in I & M #s
Requirement by Guatemala, or coincidence? Have been trying to confirm with ICE for over a week. Waiting............still waiting.
