interesting thread, mostly solid, except the economic & political predictions.
2/
the political alignments aren't shifting, because the current ones did *exactly* what the established wanted: they kept the establishment in power; Reps as "spicy opposition"; DSA as "far left bogeyman"; Dems as "moderates in between".
3/
the economics point is a bit subtler:

- there is no need to *publicly* punish or shame anybody, because no group has been *officially* blamed for the economic meltdown

- no major economic players enter or leave the political scene (only the small & medium businesses)
4/
one important caveat to the economy:
if neoliberals or neocons (Bidenites or McConnellites) get into power, they'll *publicly* apply the usual stimulus/austerity. that'd depress the economic *mood* a lot.

on the flipside, the Coof worries would fade away rapidly (2 months).
5/
college debt: lol no

the parties gain nothing from solving it. instead they would be *losing* the evergreen, easy promise (Dems) - or the perennial bogeyman (Reps).

the voters churn through it anyway - adults mostly age out from the clg. loans bracket over 2 election cycles.
6/
the self-driving car is good catch: possible break-away success.

been lingering for several years now - chances are nothing much happen.

but maybe, just *maybe*, the cars become mostly autonomous. that'd change *a lot* - social life, commuting, food & goods orders, childcare
7/
further into the future:

2024: a big change to watch out is rollout of the SpaceX's Starlink.

fast, reliable rural internet will allow productive people to disperse more from the cities, with all the attendant political & economics shifts.

other than that, who knows :-)

most people know what is up.

let me spell it out for the few that don't - who fall victim to the narratives:
2/
it's nothing new - the very same happens in military:

while one platoon is out in the field, shooting and being shot at,

the next two platoons need rest, or must be held reserve, or are specialized & equipped for other, unrelated tasks.
3/
where i live, the military has a very serious saying that translates to "resting is preparedness too"

may sound moribund to rest, or to goof off to unload stress while your buddies get shot at - but that's how it works. people need it to manage the heightened stresses.

the society ascribes certain protections and exemptions from manliness to the women.

to a large extent, they are untouchable to warfare, revenge & retribution, personal criminal responsibility is limited - viewed through lens of expected leniency.
2/
the advanced society also ascribes those protections and exemptions for men *in certain select roles* - emissaries, envoys, ambassadors, *representatives*, lawyers.

not so much for *the elders*, no.
3/
having major protections and exemptions for years on end does influence the development of moral character of people in those positions. think your elected representatives or lawyers.

they become insular, self-governing societies, where a lot of guarantees are a given.

the weirdest presupposition:
>our birth rates are low
>importing different people and melding them to our culture
>will increase *our* birthrate
>while maintaining theirs high birthrate
2/
the low birthrates in the west are culturally and socio-politically mediated

3/
USA is also exporting the same population-limiting feminism elsewhere

on the taxpayer's dime

lying while technically telling the truth: journalists use misleading framing.

let's talk the new stimulus.
2/
congress has approved a meager, measly $600/person stimulus.

$600 times 330MM (US population):

$200 B. remember the number for later on.

this new debt is what the journalists are telling you is "nothing", and they misleadingly compare it to tiny numbers.
3/
>$2 B for Air Force missile procurement and related expenses

that's 1% of the $600/person.
this goes to pay wages of american workers, and profits of american industrialists.
