On this day last year, we first learned of #COVID19 & began our pandemic response.
Before we say goodbye to 2020, let's look back on a challenging year & give those who’ve worked so hard to keep us safe their due. These are the people that deserve our heartfelt gratitude:
Our frontline workers: #Taiwan’s medical workers, immigration personnel, quarantine taxi drivers, military & quarantine center workers have worked tirelessly, making great sacrifices for everyone’s health & safety.
Our national face mask team: They took us from a net importer of medical masks to the second largest producer in the world – from 1.8 million to 20 million masks per day! Their hard work allowed us to donate 50+ million masks to other countries, showing how #TaiwanCanHelp.
Medical suppliers, the post office & pharmacies: They combined to distribute medical supplies around the country, keeping our healthcare system ready & ensuring our people had an affordable, regular supply of masks & sanitiser at National Health Insurance pharmacies.
Our Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) & the people of #Taiwan: The CECC kept us all up to date daily with current events & new regulations. Most importantly, our people have been so caring & conscientious. Their commitment is the key to overcoming this challenge.
The global pandemic is not yet over, so please stay vigilant, wear a mask, & do all you can to protect yourself & those around you. Let’s make #2021 the year we truly put an end to #COVID19.
