✍ | Real Madrid transfer policy & what can we expect for summer of 2021:
• Explaining the situation and what fans should expect:
[THREAD]
✍ | Financial state:
Real Madrid approved a deficit of 68 millions for 2020/2021, this measure represents around €42M of savings and there are €26M left for the club not to record any losses – per @jfelixdiaz article breaking down the situation.
✍ | Mbappé & Haaland:
• Both of them are currently out of reach for Real Madrid, and per explanation they'd cost way more than Madrid can afford — even if club were to accept losses for a year including everything (wages, fee, bonuses, etc). Not possible.
✍ | Planning:
Per close sources, Real Madrid will target a CB, a midfielder & attacker, that is something necessary to keep Madrid competitive & not let finances drown even further as club losses it's competitiveness.
✍ | in 2020, Real Madrid were close to finishing 2 deals — Donny Van De Beek & Eduardo Camavinga but Covid situation & both clubs wanting the money straight up — completely broke down the deal as there were no finances to support the deals & Madrid couldn't afford a loan.
✍ | Real Madrid made a over €100M in 2020 to balance their books and not come out at a loss.
Unlike clubs like Chelsea, United, PSG, Man City (etc), Madrid relies on fans, TV money & such sources of in-come instead of being owned by billionaires capable of pushing their €.
✍ | Real Madrid signings in 2021:
David Alaba is the big name right now. He is out of contract in summer, therefore Madrid will pay his wages — sort of the transfers club will look for to reinforce the squad.
✍ | Raising the transfer fund:
Real Madrid could use the players already at the club to increase the money, selling players like Isco or Luka Jović, Marcelo (etc) could increase the transfer budget to achieve their goals in summer.
✍ | Raising the transfer fund:
Trophies is the 2nd income that could increase, from "tiny" increases like Supercopa in January, to possibility of Copa del Rey & La Liga and obviously the highest one & most unlikely being the Champions League could change the situation.
✍ | How could Madrid do their deals?
Amortize them. Transfers of 2020 happened because the clubs refused to accept this line of payment, but there is a possibility of being able to close deals like this off for different players. Depending on club they negotiate with.
✍ | Final verdict:
• Mbappé or Haaland look almost impossible.
• Madrid still can invest well in players through good scouting & right profiles
• There are quite a few players to sell and increase chances for bigger names.
• CL victory would change things.

✍ | Real Madrid has pulled off a masterpiece with David Alaba.
€40M spent across 4 years on a Champions League player who is physically & technically excellent at just 28 years of age — arguably his peak in both ends.
• Let's dissect the situation of the best left-back this generation has seen now in 2021 — and where issue lays:

📊 | Marcelo minutes throughout last 5 seasons:
• Gradually seeing his minutes decreased
• Halfway through this season and he's played almost half of Mendy.
📊 | Marcelo numbers:
Not just his minutes have seen a decrease, Marcelo's general creativity has seen a massive dip consistently – through tactical changes and his overall decline in every department.
I just like most have had the roughest year of my life, from physical struggles to the mental toll the situation created took – having to deal with a lot of things going on.
I've had cancer scare throughout the year, had multiple tests done on me to find out what my physical problems were – thankfully didn't turn out that way & one of main reasons of my struggles were lack of exercise & physical work — Don't NEGLECT your body.
From that, I had to see a therapist due to all the stress caused from Covid and everything going on in between, health and financial related issues — but I am lucky enough to have supportive people around me.
