This year I want to add one vegetarian dinner to my weekly repertoire. Suggestions of your favourites welcome! Conditions:
•not soy based
•not an attempt to replicate meat
•easy enough to cook on a weekday
•easy to find ingredients
•preferably cook once, eat multiple days
Oh, yeah, the kid won't eat mushrooms. But it's a texture thing—he's OK if I chop them up fine.
I already routinely make a leek and zucchini quiche, vegetable stirfry, minestrone, and a spinach, green bean & potato coconut curry.
(I'd make palak paneer more if I made paneer more.)
Sigh. So many of these recipe recommendations look great, but kid doesn't like squash or bell peppers, either. :(
I think I'm making the kid seem pickier than he is. He's generally pretty good with food. But he's not the indiscriminate garbage disposal that I am.

Tomorrow's a special day, folks! HOW WILL YOU BE CELEBRATING?
For those of you relatively new to this utter disgrace of a Twitter feed (Hi! 👋 Welcome!), here's a primer on why you'll see me tweeting about pubes from time to time for apparently no good reason. Rest assured that there's a VERY GOOD REASON. stronglang.wordpress.com/2018/07/16/pub…
This tweet from last year has been empirically and unequivocally confirmed.
Last concurrent session! @sesquiotic talking about translating medicalese into everyday English. #Editors19
Why do we need to translate medicalese? Because health is about people. But in an attempt to appear objective, medical writers remove the people from their writing. #Editors19
Humans with health problems are subjects, patients, or not even mentioned. #Editors19
@H_E_Saunders@nabetafish How do we take care of ourselves when we encounter distressing content? Because it does have to be looked at and edited. #Editors19
Ida Pranteau, panellist on how patients want to be treated.
Fell out of a tree at 12 and tore up her arm. Spent 4 months in hospital and needed 2 skin graft surgeries. The doctor said, "Do you know how much money you're costing the healthcare system?" #BCSUC19
After that she didn't ever want to see the doctor.
"Racism in health care against Indigenous people is alive and well." #BCSUC19
"We're not asking for a handout. We just want to be treated with the respect and dignity that we have for you. Let us tell you our story and about how we're feeling. It's not up to you to tell us how we should feel." #BCSUC19
For the next hour or so I’ll be tweeting from the BC Psychosocial Rehabilitation Advanced Practice webinar, "Using Tension-Based Practice to Promote Recovery-Orientation in the Inpatient Context." I’ll be using the hashtag #BCPSR if you want to follow along or mute!
The speaker today is Shu-Ping Chen, assistant professor of occupational therapy at the University of Alberta. She’s the author of “Recovery Education Program for Inpatient Mental Health Providers,” published by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. #BCPSR
Recovery orientation thus far has been focused on community-based practice. This webinar will discuss applying recovery strategies to acute, inpatient settings. #BCPSR
My biggest takeaways probably came from the conversations with other attendees. Learned about harm-reduction apps for sex work in Ontario: sex workers can give peers on the app information about a date. They use the app to check on each other and call for help. #EMH2019
