At appx 8:00, after alleging thousands of fake & stolen ballots, Trump argues that he could not have lost b/c his "coattails" enabled down-ballot GOP to win. But why would D's fake only the top of the ticket - esp when redistricting is coming up this year? washingtonpost.com/video/politics…
Around 9:50, Trump claims that other swing states will be flipping to him soon. 🤔 washingtonpost.com/video/politics…
At appx 17:40, Trump (for the 2nd time) claims that the attendance at his *campaign rallies* shows that he could not have lost Georgia. 🤔
At 19:24, Raffensperger: "Mr. President, the challenge that you have is the data you have is wrong." On the claim that some 5K "dead people" had voted (which Trump made earlier), R says "the actual number were two: two people that were dead that voted."
At 21:44, Trump claims that a woman (named bleeped out) stuffed the ballot boxes. Says that they have this on video, "in slow motion." Says that they will be releasing "a new tape" that's "devastating." Claims that this one event accounts for more than the 11K vote loss margin
At 23:00: Raffensperger is fully aware of this video. Says it's "unfortunate" that Giuliani et al "sliced and diced that video and took it out of context." Says that the video does not reflect the "full run of tape." Trump then waves this off, complains poll watchers were absent.
27:25: After Raffensperger's counsel says that this incident was thoroughly investigated by law enforcement, including FBI, who found no evidence of wrongdoing, Trump then concludes "they're either dishonest or incompetent."
36:09: Trump tells Raffensperger that Stacey Abrams and co. are "going around, playing you and laughing at you - behind your back, Brad. Whether you know it or not, they're laughing at you." Projection?
37:20: Trump accuses Raffensperger of knowingly covering up ballot-shredding, suggests that he and his counsel are at risk of criminal punishment. R tries several times to respond, Trump keeps talking over him
37:50: Here's what's drawn much attention: Trump says all he wants to do is "find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have, because we won the state and flipping the state is a great testament to our country."
And again, at 39:44: "We need only 11 thousand votes."
And at 42:52: "Look Brad, I have to find 12 thousand votes, and I have them times a lot....and therefore I won the state. That's before we go to the next step which is in the process of [sic] right now." Then says that it's "very dangerous" for R to say there was no criminality
44:13: Trump: "So what are we going to do here, because I only need 11 thousand votes. Fellas, I need 11 thousand votes. Give me a break."
Much of this recording is pure Trump monologue, ranting, making accusations and veiled threats right and left, giving Raffensperger and his counsel little opportunity to reply.
49:09: Trump tells Raffensperger: "I know this call's going nowhere....Look, ultimately, I win. Because you guys are so wrong. You've treated the population of Georgia so badly. Between you and your governor." Says Gov. Kemp was down 21 pts "and like a schmuck I endorsed him."
At around 1:00:00, Trump tells Raffensperger: "Stacey Abrams is laughing at you....She's going around saying these guys are dumber than a rock." He then claims to have gotten Kemp elected and says he was a "schmuck" for endorsing him

1/4 So here's another one of those what-I've-done-this-year threads. 🧵

Right around the time our lives were shutting down due to the pandemic, the @BakerInstitute published my study of #ChristianAmericanism / #ChristianNationalism in #Texas politics bakerinstitute.org/research/chris…
2/4 I wrote about the national implications of that study in this piece for @RDispatches: "Texas serves as a case study of what happens when Christian Americanists take the reins of power." religiondispatches.org/new-study-of-c…
3/4 In April, TX Gov. Abbott and AG Paxton used the pandemic as an opportunity to do what they've long wanted: ban elective abortions in Texas. In this @RDispatches piece, I argued that their actions (later blocked in court) undermined religious freedom religiondispatches.org/texas-faith-le…
