Canada.

You must see this information and share it far and wide. 🚨🚨🚨💥💥💥🚨🚨🚨💥💥💥

Our children are the vectors of disease transmission.
This information has been confirmed repeatedly. No child is safe from transmission of covid.

In Alberta, the inability to trace origin of contact makes this partially obscured. We cannot confirm schools are super spreader environments.
But we can confirm hundreds of children contracted covid.

Several schools sent home huge numbers of children and teachers to isolate until infection was determined positive or negative.

There are several studies confirming children contract covid.
There are several studies confirming children can and do transmit the virus to others as easily as adults do.

To eliminate the transmission we MUST shut schools until vaccines are administered to adults. There isn’t an approved covid vaccine for children.
Children are our most precious resource. The light at the end of the tunnel is visible. Until children can be vaccinated en masse, we cannot sacrifice their health for the economy. That includes childcare.
If Alberta residents need to work, then safe childcare and schools MUST be the priority.

We know UCP has put children at risk. It’s time they stepped up to so what is required to mitigate the virus until we can all be vaccinated.
With the recent fiasco of multiple MLAs travelling abroad, the message is clear from UCP. They don’t give one f**k about mitigating the virus.

With the info about schools being a transmission amplifier, we now have the evidence to demand this government respond to science.
Shut down all schools & ready them properly, using federal funds provided and any extra Alberta funds required, to protect our children.

Anything less than responding to this public demand is just more evidence that UCP wants covid to cripple AB & # of deaths are irrelevant.
Protecting our children and reducing the number of deaths are quite relevant to every Albertan that has sacrificed for the last 10 months.

There is no atonement available to UCP for putting Albertans at risk. None. But this is the least UCP can do to assuage some of the rage.
LTC centres need extra support. If it requires asking for federal assistance, that’s what UCP needs to humble themselves to do.

The UCP actions have unnecessarily endangered lives, resulted in deaths and have isolated the population. Beginning to act like they care is a MUST!
Seeking to reverse the exacerbation of covid MUST become an expectation of the public. And daily reminders and checking are mandatory.

That means increased testing and ramped up vaccinations. Immediately! No excuses.
And there better be written documentation for bathroom privileges for leaders, never mind vacations or days off.

Anything less than all hands on deck right now is grounds to storm the legislature and remove UCP from power. Call a new election.
And while you’re at it. Since UCP can repeal any legislation or make any amendment, remove the clause that gives the governing party absolute power.

Immediately. No need to wait for spring.

THE TIPPING POINT

Yesterday I wrote a thread about the tipping point of tolerance of inhumane abuse of power by UCP. Attached.

It was in response to the outrage about Xmas vacations and why people feel so angry and filled with rage.

I’m going to try to do a better job today.
On Friday January 1, 2021, Kenney gave a speech about the scandal his party is caught up in.

The hubris & contempt for the public was palpable. He showed up late, putting many on edge, & then proceeded to cover the butts of several MLAs & political aids who travelled over Xmas.
There would be no consequences. No laws were broken.

That sparked outrage and protest. And rightly so.

When a premier has the audacity to try to excuse a betrayal of public trust and minimize the contempt his party showed for public health, the public boiled over with rage.

@shmitzysays @disruptfascism I don’t think the tipping point means what you think it means.

People tolerated an inhumane government because of laws, conventions and the personal sacrifices everyone was making.

The tipping point is the withdrawal of that tolerance.
@shmitzysays @disruptfascism People have lost loved ones to covid and other reasons and had to sacrifice time with those they love to protect everyone else left alive. They’ve made huge sacrifices to protect the commons. It hurt, but they were willing to refrain from putting their needs first.
@shmitzysays @disruptfascism And the sacrifice was needs, not wants and desires. To grieve we need to go through the process of letting go. To see the person decline in health. Hold their hand, tell them they are loved. And then share that grief with loved ones. That’s our social norm to grieve.

I’m not sure if the significance of the travelling at Christmas is well understood.

Kenney is thumbing his nose at Albertans.

This is no ordinary thumbing. He’s basically letting Albertans know that he and his MLAs will do as they please and there will be no consequences.
This is when following policy is helpful.

In March 2020 when Dr. Hinshaw closed schools down, Kenney was furious. He couldn’t reverse the order without seriously damaging his credibility & revealing his true nature. So he did the next best thing. He gave himself absolute power.
And, since it was during a pandemic, barely anyone noticed.

The powers he bequeathed upon himself and his political party are only in effect when a Public Health Emergency is invoked. Kenney invoked a Public Health Emergency in late November 2020.

Seems conservatives have an overdeveloped sense of entitlement.

How does it feel to the average Albertan to be considered second class? Apparently UCP, CPC and other conservatives across Canada are exempt from COVID public health orders.
I wonder if that means anti maskers are first class citizens? What about church pastors and parishioners? Are they first class status too?

But teachers, physicians, police, first responders, grocery workers, and every other Albertan is considered second class.

This is Alberta if we don’t get COVID under control. Quite difficult when MLAs and political aids and press secretaries flout COVID public health orders, businesses remain open, and churches are pushing the boundaries of 15% capacity by about an extra 35% on a regular basis.
In other words, Alberta’s future and Alberta healthcare’s impending collapse is to be expected when the government and the entire political party that makes up the government refuses to take COVID seriously.
If you’re hoping to avoid catastrophic healthcare failure, now is the time to speak up.

But speaking alone is not going to accomplish a policy change.

Ontario has similar issues. Speaking up resulted in the scapegoat resignation and utterances of disappointment.
