If you're trying to plan your Weds/Thurs: @LeaderHoyer tells reporters that, yes, if there are challenges to all 6 states it could take as much as four hours to debate and vote on each one, meaning 24 hours (!) of counting.
Could the joint session recess? It's possible to break at some point if one of the states is challenged (see the statute below) but they would have to restart no later than 10 a.m. the next day. Some sr Dems arguing for no breaks, power through until it's done.
Said @LeaderHoyer on the recess question: "I don’t think we need to go all night … I’ll have to make that judgment though sometime on Wednesday.”
We'll know more when Arizona comes up shortly after things get underway at 1 p.m. Wednesday: If a senator joins @RepAndyBiggsAZ & co., then it's gonna be an absolute grind. If the senators wait for GA (or MI or PA), there's chance of wrapping up before the sun rises on Thursday.

>@SenSchumer says he spoke to Biden: "I pledged to him that as majority leader, President Biden & VP-elect Harris will have a partner in me and my caucus, who is ready, willing and able to help achieve a forward looking agenda and deliver bold change to the American people."
"For too long, much needed help has been stalled or diluted by a Republican led Senate, and President Trump that will change with a Democratic Senate, Democratic House, and a Democratic president."
Asked about power-sharing deal: "I look forward to sitting down with Leader McConnell. We have a lot of things to discuss. We 1st have to wait till the races are certified and the new senators here are here...before we can put anything in place, but certainly will have to talk."

FLASH: @HawleyMO announces he will object during Jan. 6 Electoral College tally, assuring House & Senate votes on Trump's election allegations.
Upshot of this: Hawley is signaling he's object to at least the Pennsylvania votes and is keeping is options open on others. The only question now is whether Jan. 6 is a long day on the Hill or a VERY long day on the Hill.
And make no mistake: These objections are all but certain to be voted down in both chambers. Hawley acknowledges he is only seeking to "raise these critical issues" of state election procedures and Big Tech political meddling.

Seeing some armchair parliamentarians out there that Democrats could "clay pigeon" the GOP combo bill and divide the question to get a standalone vote on $2K checks. Sorry to break it to everyone, but that's not gonna happen. 1/
For one: there's just no time to get into a regular-order legislative process on either of these bills. Any votes that get set up will have to be done under a unanimous consent agreement to get done before the Congress ends on Sunday. No such motion would be in order. 2/
For another: You can't "clay pigeon" bills, only amendments. See Riddick's, p.1,503: "applies to amendments and motions but not to the original text of the bill, which, except by unanimous consent or suspension of the rules, must be acted on as a single question in one vote." 3/
