Today I read:
In Search of Shifting and Emergent Librarian Identities: A Philosophical Approach to the Librarian Identity Problem, doi.org/10.21083/partn…

Librarian Identity is something I think about a lot and this paper helped add some critical perspective and insight.
Today I read
Feminist Co-Mentoring: A Model for Academic Professional Development, jstor.org/stable/4316944
A good approach to mentoring, I hope to work this way w peers
"Thus, the goal of co-mentoring is the development of the whole person, not simply [their] intellectual side"
Today I read:
Why your anxiety might also be a superpower, via @thesiswhisperer.
As a professional staff member in research support who does a lot of cross-bound work, I deeply feel Role Ambiguity.
Today I read:
Personal goal setting behavior and professional outlooks of academic library employees, newlibs.org/article/17689-…
Did not understand the aim of the paper-no correlation/causation analysis between setting new years' resolutions and setting professional goals.
Today I read:
The ‘Impact Opportunity’ for Academic Libraries through Grey Literature, 10.1080/0361526X.2020.1847744

Many thoughts. Much to process. Words to write.
Today I read: The Mere Urgency Effect, doi.org/10.1093/jcr/uc…

Remember, don't let the (mere) Urgency of time distract you from the Importance of (long term) objectives.
Today I read:
Embedding library services in research stages: Chinese subject service and the research lifecycle model,  dx.doi.org/10.23974/ijol.…
Useful to know about standard services when working with China-educated students and academics.
Today I read:
The Power of Informal Mentoring (Bynum, 2015).
Good summary of types of mentoring available. Completely lacks critical engagement as to why some types of mentorships are not taken up by women/ not open to women/ more accessible to women
Today I read:
Re-Imagining the Human Dimension of Mentoring: A Framework for Research Administration and the Academy.
Am now thinking about the intersection between research management and librarianship, and how mentorship approaches converge and diverge in the overlap.
Today I read:
The blended librarian: A blueprint for redefining the teaching and learning role of academic librarians (Bell & Shank, 2004)
Thinking about how and why librarianship is often partnered with IT in a T&L space but not much with research/management.
Today I read:
Recognizing the value of software: a software citation guide. doi.org/10.12688/f1000…

Which has me thinking- if someone comments enough on an article on a #preprint server...can they become a recognised author?
Today I read:
Establishing User Needs - A Large-Scale Study into the Requirements of Those Involved in the Research Process.
Great study on working with researchers and research support roles to develop a collaborative resources...library perspective would have been good though
Today I read:
A survey of early-career researchers in Australia. 10.7554/eLife.60613
Solidarity to the #STEMM #ECR population in Australia. It's a tough life in academia, and we need to do better.
Today I read: Women's relationships with women at work: Barriers to solidarity, doi.org/10.1111/soc4.1…. Once I said I worked in a female-dominated profession and a very senior academic followed with, "yes, and it upholds the patriarchy in many ways each and every day".
Today I read:
Threshold concepts: A point of focus for practitioner research. dx.doi.org/10.1177/146978…
Going to go and see where #thresholdconcepts have been applied to librarianship. #critlib
Today I read:
Review of Data Management Lifecycle Models.
There's a lot of data on the representation of data.
Today I read:
Faculty perceptions of librarians and library services: Exploring the impact of librarian faculty status and beyond. 10.1016/j.acalib.2020.102200

Helped me understand a little more of the Faculty/Non-Faculty | Tenure/Non-Tenure situation in the US.
Included this gem, "As for how the effectiveness of the partnership between faculty and librarians could be enhanced and strengthened, nearly one third (32%) of respondents [researchers] who answered this question placed the responsibility squarely on librarians’ shoulders"
