If Republicans *somehow* manage to blow it in Georgia today, that would, in a way, show evidence of Trump’s continued influence and sway over the party and movement.
I mean, this shouldn’t have been that hard for Republicans. But the leader of the free world and the party’s leader and personality-cult man has been constantly telling every maga chud who’s registered to vote in the state that their elections are bullshit and rigged
... against the expressed wishes of his own political lieutenants and fellow GOP honchos! It’s hysterical, even if the GOP pulls it out tonight/this week
No matter what trump’s top officials want you to believe, his message to GOP voters in Georgia has not been to help the party maintain power, it’s been that his power should be maintained, & leveraging the personality cult to make the voters feel bad for *him*, not like loeffler
“It is regrettable that what started out as a family argument [between the president and top Georgia Republicans] was not resolved at the kitchen table...And we cannot fool ourselves, as Republicans, into thinking that does not hurt.” thedailybeast.com/georgia-electi…

THERE IS NO NEW TONE, LITERALLY HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO DO THIS, THERE HAS LITERALLY NEVER BEEN ONE TIME WHERE HIS PREWRITTEN FORCED READINGS EVER STUCK WHAT ARE YOU DOING
I’m not exaggerating, I’ve been keeping track for four years. Literally. Every. Time. No exceptions. He does scandal and chaos and disphittery, he is a coward and gets cowed into doing a few minutes of public remarks because he sees everyone is Mad at him, and then it’s back...
...to doing things like saying the coronavirus numbers are bullshit and then retweeting that all his enemies could like go to jail for saying he never had a shot at Salma Hayek
The people who keep tweeting and going on the news to say we need to stop referring to these people and politicians as “conservative” must have slept the past many years of the conservative movement and gop
Conservatives decide what is conservatism, and they’ve done it. Parties and ideological brand names shift and trim around the edges all the time. “Conservative” is not inextricably linked to you reading Edmund Burke once in college and refusing to admit you don’t understand...
Multiple sources w/ knowledge of the matter & who've been in contact w/ Trump since Wed. say he continues to insist he did absolutely nothing wrong, & that he wants people to look into baseless rumors that antifa radicals infiltrated MAGA protest & riot thedailybeast.com/after-inciting…
our first report on the day’s events, from me and @lachlan, still reporting out what we can. Featuring reporting from inside the Trump WH today and his inner circle, Trump’s former national intel director, the MyPillow CEO / major funder of the pro-Trump efforts, & a lot of shame
Ed Rollins, chair of the pro-Trump Great America PAC, about an hour and a half ago: “Dems are killing us at grass roots...This is [@staceyabrams’s] revenge...looks like dems are going to pull it out.”
as results rolled in Tues. night, Trump campaign kept fundraising—in part by baselessly casting doubt on Georgia elex. “Pres Trump: Is it true that voting machines ‘stopped working’ earlier in Georgia today?” Trump2020 texted supporters. “Are Dems trying to STEAL this Election?”
.@arawnsley, @justinbaragona, & I took a dive into Cleta Mitchell's (from The Call) largely out-of-sight legal work for Trump & his team on anti-democratic efforts. It goes back to pre-Thanksgiving, per our story, & she became the point person on Georgia: thedailybeast.com/trumps-new-vol…
Cleta Mitchell’s law firm released a statement today implying shock and ignorance of the extent of her work with Trump and his crew on trying to cancel democracy, but she said, for instance, in a little-heard podcast that she was a “volunteer” for the team thedailybeast.com/trumps-new-vol…
