Record in England for daily new admissions with COVID-19 3,351 on Sunday, 3,154 on Saturday, both above April peak of 3099 Image
Highest ever number of UK Covid admissions to hospital today reported for Sunday 3/1 - 3,600, topping the previous peak of 3565 on 1/4/2020 Image

NHS chief Simon Stevens absolutely furious at online conspiracy theorists and their backers sneaking into hospitals filming them to say that Covid is fake, saying it will “kill people” and is “demoralising” nurses and doctors working hard to save lives:

And adjusted per thousand population, excess deaths over previous 5 years higher already than any year since 1950 including the 1950s flu epidemic: ONS

Expecting further grants to be announced shortly - grants for businesses forced to close were set at up to £3000 a month. Also the Self employed scheme grant rate not yet confirmed after end of month...
NEW:
Chancellor announces further “one off top up” grants of between £4000 and £9000 for businesses in retail hospitality and leisure now obliged to lockdown - based on rateable value.
Expected to benefit 600,000 businesses, will include funding for all four nations, cost £4.6bn

So @Samfr maybe you’re the best person to explain how we can help kids in school generally (not just our own) with technology they need for remote learning? What’s the software platform... what sort of tablet (or is it chromebook? Old iPads?). Maybe we can get industry to help...
So is there any point, for example, donating old tablets or laptops - and to whom - and is there, for example a preference for android or iOS?

I was thinking anyone might benefit for example from the dozens of @bbcbitesize lessons - and they just requires an internet stream...

SE of England, is Kent, Essex etc - Covid patients on ventilators now at same numbers as in first wave. Admissions with C-19 are much higher

Ah - SE England is Kent, Surrey, Sussex etc, not Essex...
80k infections on specimen date last Tuesday (28/12)... London 7 day rate at not far off 1 in 100 - 950/100k
