My Grandma Emma passed away today at the beautiful age of 88.
This week has been a rollercoaster of emotions. This weekend it became clear my grandmother was starting to transition from this life.
I did my best to stay focused on our objectives while also trying to be a good grandson.
So on the day we announced I was running for Congress, I sat by her bed and let her watch the video. She couldn’t speak, but she watched the whole thing and attempted to give me a sign
of affirmation. My grandmother was just as direct as me, she never mixed her words and she meant what she said. My heart hurts because she’s gone, but my spirit rejoices because I know where she is.
Emma was my biological mother’s mom. My mother has been deceased 35 years now.
I imagine that when the ancestors welcomed her, my mother got to kiss and hug her mother for the first time in 35 years.
Grandma, thank you for being a pillar of strength and love. She didn’t have much, but anything she had I knew she’d give to me or my sisters. I am grateful
to be her grandson, the fruit that came from her tree.
You always said, “keep going to sleep and getting up in the morning baby, it will get better.” Though I hurt today, I know it will get better.
Your only grandson will cherish your memory forever.
I’ll see you after while sweet Lady, I love you 🖤.

Yet we defund education and healthcare almost every year.
I live in a parish with 11 different police agencies, in the 2nd most incarcerated place in THE WORLD. It hasn’t solved crime.
Move the money. It’s not making us safer.
Call it defund.
Call it reappropriate.
Call it reallocate.
Call it reprioritize.
Call it whatever the hell you want.
Cops don’t need bigger budgets.
Cities need better plans to address the social ills of communities. That’s how we fix communities, not more cops.
People want us to pretend that we don’t have the consciousness or clarity of thought to know conservatives move money from important things all the time. Nearly every legislative session or council meeting.
Go tell somebody who doesn’t read a budget that moving money is wrong.
Mr. GoAuto @GoAutoInsurance Greg Tramontin thought it was appropriate to call the Vice President Elect Kamala Harris a “hoe.”
Greg benefits from many Black women who currently have auto insurance with his company. I think that everyone of the women who support his company >>>
and family by purchasing auto insurance should know this is how he thinks and speaks about Black women.
White men in power struggle to respect anyone else but other white men in power. They can’t grasp that anyone else is competent enough to lead.
Greg & his business should feel this. There should be Black men and women calling to cancel their insurance policies and going where they won’t be called a hoe when they reach the second highest office in America.
Celebrate, but don’t you dare think the 71 million people who thought a bigot in the White House was acceptable aren’t fuming right now.
Trump helped make clear how deeply divided this nation is. That won’t go away with Biden & Harris.
White supremacist are real & angry now.
Trump will continue to fan the flames of division all the way to the end.
Decency has never been his thing, and it isn’t for his supporters either. They voted for him. Which means to whatever degree they agree with his approach.
Expect pushback from them in the days ahead.
America has always been the country we’ve seen for the last 4 years through a Trump presidency. It will be that tomorrow, and the day after.
Which means we have to protect ourselves and be careful of our surroundings. Everybody in the crowd isn’t a supporter. Know this.
