NEW, per @KenDilanianNBC

Rep. Tim Ryan—who chairs key subcommittee with jurisdiction over the Capitol-- says as many as 60 Capitol Police officers were injured yesterday, including 15 hospitalized and 1 in critical condition. Many were hit in the head with lead pipes, he said
He said he is "livid" over the "strategic blunder" that left the Capitol Police without a solid plan and adequate reinforcements. They held off the mob for more than an hour before the building was breached, he said.

He said he does not understand, and plans to investigate, why
the mob was allowed to get so close to the Capitol when he was assured by police officials that could not happen. He added that there was an “intelligence failure,” to anticipate the scope of the threat.

While praising the heroics of most rank and file Capitol Police, he said
he was concerned about videos showing police officers appearing to act with passivity, and in one case posing for a selfie with a rioter.

“The egregious ploy to reject electors may enhance the political ambition of some, but dangerously threatens our Democratic Republic. 1/
The congressional power to reject electors is reserved for the most extreme and unusual circumstances. These are far from it. More Americans participated in this election than ever before, and they made their choice.

President Trump’s lawyers made their case before scores of
courts; in every instance, they failed. The Justice Department found no evidence of irregularity sufficient to overturn the election. The Presidential Voter Fraud Commission disbanded without finding such evidence.

In a move casting doubt on the legitimacy of a POTUS-elect who won the popular vote by a wide margin, 11 GOP senators explain it thusly:

1. There are allegations of fraud.

2. A sizable portion of R's believe them.

NOTE: Courts across the nation have rejected those allegations.
But, again, the statement says there are "allegations of fraud and irregularities in the 2020 election exceed any in our lifetimes."

And they are believed by the people, 67% of Republicans, whom *they themselves told, without evidence* to believe such allegations.
"whether or not our elected officials or journalists believe it, that deep distrust of our democratic processes will not magically disappear. It should concern us all."

From a nurse named Cathie in North Texas
(a second cousin)

"This is the breaking point...will you help us now?"

THREAD

"This past weekend was a nightmare, we simply ran out of beds throughout the metroplex. We filled every single ICU bed by moving patients from ..
hospital to hospital.

Sadly, we also were unable to help out the smaller hospitals who had patients on transport or a disposable vents not intended for the patient to remain on other than for short periods of time.

One ER RN had tried 14 hospitals and still could not get
her patient on a disposable vent out of her ER. My heart broke as she begged for some help.

The Trauma RAC has been repurposed as a placement crisis line to help place patients throughout the state. Their mission has become almost impossible.

We are starting the process

Couple observations from the Gettysburg "fraud" conference.

1. Many of the "experts" speaking are new recruits, first timers, angry their "suggestions" were ignored.

2. No evidence of fraud.

3. Dislike for a process they appear to have been observing for the very first time.
4. Data "warfare" expert doesn't like automated devices in general, more Hugo Chavez talk.
5. MUCH "this is the way it should be" in our elections system, and no claims it's any different from any previous election.

NEW: MI GOP leaders issue statement on Trump meeting:

"We have not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in Michigan and as legislative leaders, we will follow the law and follow the normal process regarding Michigan’s electors,
just as we have said throughout this election."

“Michigan’s certification process should be a deliberate process free from threats and intimidation. Allegations of fraudulent behavior should be taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and if proven, prosecuted to
the full extent of the law. And the candidates who win the most votes win elections and Michigan's electoral votes. These are simple truths that should provide confidence in our elections.”

👉Why Trump can't steal the election in Michigan

“It would take a lot of people violating their duty and not standing up for the law," constitutional law prof @sbagen tells @NBCNews

A THREAD

1. Michigan's state board of canvassers, must under law, certify the vote after
all 83 counties have certified, says Bagenstos.

"If they don't, they'd be violating the law" and will be taken to court by literally anyone, a voter, a lawmaker, many possibilities.

"The statute that governs them says when they have the information, ‘they shall certify.’"
The legislature has no role in this.

"The courts tend to act very quickly on these post-election challenges," he said.

👉Separately from a GOP leader close to @SenMikeShirkey & @LeeChatfield:

To circumvent this, the pair would have to convince practically their entire
