Texas reports their first case of the UK B.1.1.7 variant. The infected patient is a man between the ages of 30-40 years old in southwest Harris County and has had no history of traveling.

France reported 22 total cases of the B.1.1.7 variant so far.
Their Health Minister suggested that French authorities want to avoid “at all cost” the spread in France of the B.1.1.7 variant.

Israel continues to lead the world in vaccinations. They have now administered more than 17 doses per 100 residents, with more than 64% of their population over 60 years old already receiving at least one dose.

Japan declares a state of emergency in Tokyo and three surrounding prefectures as coronavirus cases rise. The declaration is scheduled to last for one month.

This comes as Japan recorded a record high of 5950 cases yesterday.
