#WakingThoughts: I would really like to create spaces of righteousness, excellence and progressiveness. For in the midst of crisis lies opportunity. Light shines brightest in great darkness.
In my mind, a Christian is one who combines Character + Excellence + Spiritual Gifts. When one element is missing, the Christian's light is dim and he/she has scant impact on the world.
Character requires humility and sacrifice. It does good even when there is no audience or peer regulation.
Excellence requires skill, talent, incredible hardwork and consistency. Spiritual gifts hide in the church and are rarely applied in the real world when bestowed on the religious, narrowminded and judgmental.
When you see a Christian with all three traits, you will hear of changed lives, business innovations, scientific breakthroughs, political movements. You will see the result of piercing, unrelenting, uncommon light.

THE TEN STRUGGLES OF THE RICH | If you are a High Networth Individual living in Nigeria, then this post is for you. 🧵
I have noticed ten main causes of unhappiness among the rich in this part of the world. Particularly those who earned their status legitimately through hard work.
1. You will often have money and not find what to buy. This is a real struggle if you have taste. You will discover that the most basic standards of quality, thinking and service are absent here. Where present, they are rare and often hoarded by closed networks.
It's one thing to not evolve. We all struggle with evolution, reinvention and growth. But it's quite another thing to not even be aware that the world has left you behind. That's the real sorrow. 🧵
Oftentimes, you fail to notice because of rigidity, pride and an insistence on doing things as you've always done them.
But how you will know something is wrong is that those methods fail to produce previous results. People stop coming to you for the things they once used to.
In 2021, your village pipu will stop chasing you. You will escape the cycle of self-sabotage. You will leave your lifelong trauma behind.
You will overcome your pride and admit you need therapy and counsel. You will stop being cheap and acknowledge the value of professional help. You will finally see mental health for what it is - health.
If you have money, you should book a session with @EmotionsDoctor. Specifically ask for her Soul Stripping Spa. It will reset your life and I dare say, your destiny.
If you are broke and sudden incredible money lands in your lap, I would advise you to do three things immediately:
1. Buy something you've always wanted. This will regulate the initial Dopamine rush and help your eyes clear, so you can subsequently act with sense.
2. Book a clarity session with @EmotionsDoctor. This will help you to use the funds to restructure your career and life. That way, you can earn enough to replenish your bounty when it finally finishes.
I have two USD equity portfolios. One focuses on stocks I will hold for at least 10 years - value stocks. The other is a shorter term trading portfolio. 🧵
Early on, I realised I had a secret sauce that powered my stock picks - my brand strategy experience. For 20 years, my daily job entailed creating, building and identifying enduring brands. So, I know one when I see it. And that is gold when you're picking value stocks.
The best brands tend to do well and if you spot them, you can earn incredible value in the long term.
It's often said that the way to build new skills is through focused repetition. But, be mindful of joy sucking and soul destroying capacity development. A few illustrations come to mind. 🧵
I learnt to swim a while back. The idea was for it to become a habit & exercise option. But for some reason, I was never consistent. I picked it up again a few weeks ago and it finally hit me. I don't enjoy swimming. It's not by force. Let me learn enough to survive and move on.
It's the same thing with accounts. I hate it and am currently in the process of delegating the small segment I still oversee.
