Colorado learned this week what happens when you send a Patriot to Congress. A @nexton9news commentary:
I'm talking about the kind of American who is a Patriot by their actions - not because they've printed it on a t-shirt or a hat. A Patriot defined by the caliber of their character - not by the caliber of whatever they holster to their hip.
When the United States Capitol was under attack - a Patriot from Colorado - @RepJasonCrow - took action.
The violent mob was at the doors of the House chamber when his Ranger training kicked in. He helped colleagues put on gas masks. Moved older members of Congress to the safest spot.
Told them to take off their member pins so the insurrectionists might not be able to identify them as high-value targets. He called his wife to tell her he might have to fight his way out. And he grabbed the only weapon he could find - a pen.
If the mob had breached the doors - there is no doubt the patriot Colorado sent to Congress would have put his life on the line for his country... again.
Not on Twitter.
Not on cable news.
His life.
In real life.
Jason Crow stood ready to defend the American Capitol and all those in it. Defend them against insurrectionists egged on by Colorado Congresswoman @RepBoebert who told them that day was "1776."
Congressman Jason Crow was among the last to leave the chamber that day. The Republican leader said the Democrat from Aurora was a hero. Even those who disagree with every vote Congressman Crow has ever cast should be grateful that Colorado sent a Patriot to Congress.

Colorado's North Park is a food desert where people drive long distances for fresh groceries. That aspect of food insecurity is complicated by winter weather & the tough economy. #HeyNext viewers have raised $45k+ for Jackson County's only food bank. coloradogives.org/MFCnextwordoft…
Our Word of Thanks microgiving campaign this week supports Mountain Family Center, the non-profit that runs the food pantry in Walden and three more in Grand County (Kremmling, Granby, Fraser). They've seen 11,000 visitors this year.

NEW: Colorado tech CEO bragged about the storming of the US Capitol after posting about anticipated violence in DC. Chad Burmeister of Littleton promoted Three Percenter militia and QAnon claims, writing, “We will vote with our voices and ultimately guns.” #9News#copolitics
Burmeister, CEO of ScaleX, went to DC anticipating violence, sharing a QAnon-linked post on Facebook earlier this week, writing, “things could get ugly this week.” His posts repeatedly mention “The Storm,” QAnon shorthand for the day President Trump will execute his opponents.
Burmeister’s Wednesday Facebook post captioned “First guy to storm the capital today.” was edited Thursday morning to read, “Peaceful march to the capital.” Burmesister told me he never breached the Capitol building himself and said I could not use his photo.

NEW: The head of the Parker Republicans is doxxing public health workers in retaliation for COVID-19 restrictions, publishing their home addresses, promising, “Patriots are going to show you the errors of your ways.” #9News#copolitics9news.com/article/news/l…
This is the second doxxing attack by a GOP leader in Douglas County this month after Rep. @PatrickForCO published a @denverpost reporter’s home address in retaliation for an article detailing how he funneled campaign donations to a family business.
It appears Parker Republicans leader Mark Hall has deleted his doxxing page targeting health care workers. He briefly posted, then removed, this apology.
Outgoing House GOP leader @PatrickForCO published the reporter’s home address in retaliation for this story. So I’m sharing the article again. denverpost.com/2020/12/20/col…
Neville’s decision to dox a journalist for an unflattering but accurate article sends a clear and chilling message to other journalists in Colorado: report unfavorably on GOP leadership and your personal safety may be put at risk. That’s unacceptable.
Rep @PatrickForCO defends his decision to dox @Conrad_Swanson for writing a critical article about his family’s use of campaign funds. Neville told me the reporter’s home address was public information from his voter registration, which he wished to make public.
NEW: @GovofCO Polis begins #COVID19Colorado briefing saying he hopes increased restrictions in 20 counties "will change the trajectory" but notes that will take weeks to appear in trends. Will thread new details and lukewarm takes here. Live feed: 9news.com/article/news/h…#9NEWS
Polis echoes guidance to limit social gatherings, consolidate grocery trips, avoid outdoor dining and do take-out instead.
Polis says the first Coloradans will get the vaccine in December. Most won't receive the vaccine until sometime in 2021. "The end is in sight but it is still a long time from now until then," Polis says.
