In this thread, I will point out a few arguments why the ongoing internet blockout of Trump should not be too concerning for India. Many people are rightfully alarmed at the power of the internet giants to mute people and stifle debate, but this is not what is happening now.
I am actually supposed to be on my Twitter holiday now, but anyway, the ongoing chaos in USA is worth to take a break from my holiday. Hope good sense will prevail in all quarters, and especially amongst Indians in these crazy times.
Firstly, the internet companies gave a plethora of reasons for banning Trump and purging his supporters from their services. Though very solemn sounding, these reasons are all bullshit, as the same sites are permitting ample number of other scoundrels to go about their business.
The real reason for purging Trump in a synchronized move from all the internet giants, and for threatening to band the vocal followers of Trump as terrorists, is to project a unified command of the US state power. This is absolutely a must for all US allies, including India.
USA is not any other country, and its state power is not like any other state. The entire global politics hangs delicately on the overwhelming might of US state. If there is any doubt on this, many countries will be screwed. India included, considering its geopolitical situation.
This is why all the US allies, including India and Japan (as well as Europe obviously), voiced alarm and concern at the riots in the capitol building in Washington.

When the Biden administration forms government later this month, there must be zero doubt about its credibility.
For US allies, the internal democratic process of USA is irrelevant and not of concern if there are any doubts about it. On the other hand, what is absolutely unacceptable is people claiming US President as illegitimate. Because that will raise questions about US power globally.
What Trump and his followers in the Republican Party are doing, by continuing to call the US elections illegitimate, is to raise the spirit of adventure amongst other geopolitical powers (China, Syria, Iran, Russia etc.) that US response to a war situation will be slow and meek.
Such a “free speech” about US democratic process might have been ok a few weeks ago, but is seriously upsetting as the inauguration date of the next US President draws closer. This is mighty headache for US allies, counting on US power to maintain global peace and status quo.
So the Republican Party should shut up ASAP, and take whatever defeat on the chin. If they have doubts/ grumblings about US democracy, fine.. who doesn’t!? Just wait another 4 years and rebuild the strategy. These bollocks about calling the US President as illegitimate must stop!
I am 100% in support of whatever digital internet blockade is made to stop these bollocks. It looks ugly and stupid? sure. It incentivizes internet protectionism from other countries? sure. But what is the alternative? Opening the gates of war and terrorist misadventures? No way!
It feels rather ridiculous that I am sitting here supporting the extraordinary power of internet monopolies.. 😀 But seriously, I hate war. And I hate civil war. Anything to stop that type of shit.

We live in a highly suboptimal and crappy world. So we must have priorities!
And Trump, the bugger was doing his best to bolster the power of US e-commerce giants in India. Now when they are totally blocking him out, it looks crystal clear why any self-respecting sovereign country must build its own digital infrastructure.
zdnet.com/article/recent…
Of course, whatever Trump was doing ($5.6 billion trade concessions removed) was deemed inadequate to punish India by the digital monopolies of USA, as can be seen in this mouthpiece. There were ample number of losers arguing for sanctions on India.

wired.com/story/trumps-u…
This bullshit about dropping sanctions on India will intensify in the coming years, for whatever uppity behavior shown by the Hindoos. How the US and Indian leadership will react to such chorus of losers will determine the future trajectory of the relationship.
Personally, I am seriously worried about the lunatic fringe in the Republican Party (of the evangelical or the racist bent) scapegoating Indians as the privileged other scheming behind in this digital monopoly censorship, just like how the Jews got it in last century Europe.
No wonder, there are many Indian figureheads behind the digital monopolies. Even the Twitter ban on Trump was voiced by some Indian American. (Telugu woman? Who knows). If the dastardly Hinduphobia and Indophobia in US media is not controlled, this shit will hit the fan!
I mean, who cares about the bipolar nonsense politics in USA: Democrat, Republican.. Tweedledee, Tweedledum.. Indian Americans should stop being morons and start watching out for their backs before this crazy shit gets out of control ! Some things must have higher priority!
Anyway, I hope that this crazy civil war in USA is nipped in the bud, and people get back to their regular and boring lives. I hope Indian Americans will be able to contribute to some commonsense, instead of being scapegoats or forces for victimizing the other (whichever party).
If anybody is suddenly woke and alarmed about the gigantic monopoly power of the internet companies, lol, welcome to the club. 😄

Here is an old article where I tried to give some basic outlines of what is happening in this crazy era.

May sense and sanity prevail !

In this thread, I will discuss the division of earth into continents, and how the term “Jambūdwīpa” जम्बूद्वीप, perhaps attested the most number of times in world literature as a continent, lost out to the bastard time “South Asia”.

India must reclaim the term “Jambūdwīpa”. Image
The word “Jambūdwīpa” is attested not just in India, but in the whole Asian literature. This is how Asian civilizations like India, China, Japan etc. have seen the world, as a sacred geography centered on the Mēru mountain (Sumēru). These ideas spread through Buddhism. Image
The division of the geography is remarkably similar across a *vast* trove of Hindu and Buddhist literature. What’s more: this geography is attested repeatedly by direct physical observation of travelers on the Buddhist pilgrimage circuit, most notably Xuan Zhang (Hiuen Tsang).

There has been a large chasm in US politics since decades. This will not be bridged anytime soon. Both the sides are deluded about the past role of US, but in very different ways. Their delusions are hit by a changed reality: demographic change in US, and a growing Chinese power.
The animosity between the two deluded political parties can keep simmering on the slow burner for another couple of decades. It will not explode into a civil war (or terrorist attacks) unless it becomes socially acceptable to victimize some section of people. Hope sense prevails.
It is absolutely ridiculous to blame Trump for any of this. He is just voicing a very important political concern in the USA. This will resurface strongly even if Trump is silenced now. So the politically astute move is to let Trump save his face and move on to his legacy.

What is the earliest mention of the scientific method, anywhere in the world?

It is the "Yukti" of Charakasamhita. Āyurvēda gifted the scientific method to the world. It was also the most advanced medical system for the most of the human civilization, until a few centuries ago.
It is ridiculous to the extreme to say that Āyurvēda has no scientific rationale. But people don't question this, because they are brainwashed over several centuries of colonialism. Any bullshit written in English becomes scientific in the minds of these braindead people.
Most people don't know, but all the pioneering academic universities in Europe have started off with the medical department around a collection of medicinal plants, which are borrowed mostly from India. These botanical gardens are the centre-piece around any European university.

This perspective is widespread but wrong. Unfortunately, only computer scientists understand the severity of the issue. It's not an option to avoid using digital tools, because our entire world runs on them. What we should instead ask is why there is no regulation on malpractice?
Imagine there is no law against taking pieces of anatomical organs during surgery and "monetizing" them. Let's say that hospitals are providing free surgery to people, and monetizing their organs. Any honest hospital that charges money will be bankrupt. Macabre scenario right?
We don't have such a horrible situation in medicine because we have regulation to prevent such malpractice. In the world of software, we have no such regulation. People are largely unaware of the immense dangers of data surveillance, loss of personhood, loss of volition etc.

The British Raj systematically destroyed any Indian tradition of knowledge system that posed a threat. Terminology from Āyurvēda was explicitly excluded in the 19th century work of James Ballantyne translating European science into Indian languages.
Apart from the first documented mention of surgical procedures, Āyurvēda also has the first documented “scientific method” through experimental observation. This is known as “Yukti”, and its formulation in Āyurvēda is actually *better* than in the widely practiced medicine today.

I am not sure the fatality rate of Covid-19 is even 1%. It is probably < 0.5%. Many infected people are most probably undetected and not showing any symptoms.

I am very annoyed why these true numbers for fatality rate have not come out yet. It has almost been a year with this.
An important factor influencing fatality seems to be that viral load of infection that people got. People who are likely to get a high dose of viral load (like from working in hospitals) are also reporting higher fatalities. Again, this is also conjecture and there’s no data yet!
Why is all this so unclear in a pandemic that has been screwing the world economy for almost a year!? I have no idea, but I am disappointed in how science is getting done in today’s era. We have so much more possibilities in this era of big data and massive computation.. 😕🙄
