When Trump was first elected it was grotesque. We elected a racist, a misogynist, a failson, a carnival barker. In office he confirmed every worst fear, kidnapping children @ the border, energizing the descendants of the KKK.
Vanquishing him was initially disappointing because it was so close and up until Georgia few of his enablers were vanquished.
And then miraculously he achieved what many had suggested he would do from the start, he stained the Republican brand.
None of us could of predicted how he would do it and all of us were disappointed at the tolerance of millions of Americans for his open defiance of the ideals of decency and competence.
yet he did it in the end. We ended up right where we thought this gruesome circus would bring us. Bitter for the experience none of us wanted & a literal trail of death because outrageous fortune had all of this unfold as we experience the most serious pandemic in a century.
We have learned nothing from the experience except our capacity to repeat our past mistakes. Millions of people have simultaneously been hoodwinked by and enabled a madman.
It seems likely there will be no reckoning of the danger of not even the slightest fielty to truth and decency.
The lies told to justify the Iraq War concerned the welfare of millions of people in the Middle East. Perhaps it is fitting that our dishonesty then has been turned back on ourselves.
