To be clear. There is no such thing as free speech. Firstly speech is constrained by a vast variety of laws. Laws against racism, against incitement to violence, against libel and vilification. Secondly, leaving aside legal restrictions, no one has any right to publication.
You can stand on your soapbox in Hyde Park, or wherever, and say whatever is legally permitted but you have zero right to publication on any platform. A private publisher has a right to refuse to publish anything they want, if they disagree with the content.
People such as @CraigKellyMP, complaining about Twitter bans are either ignorant or hypocrites or both. Apparently ignorant of the laws inhibiting free speech & secondly a total hypocrite in suggesting inhibiting the right private companies to ban illegal comment.
This is the modus operandum for right wing extremists such as Kelly who are all in favour of the free market except all the times it doesn't suit them, such as this and when the market doesn't favour their preferred outcome (more coal)

@DaveSharma's folly re Trump's deplatforming from Twitter (1) No one has a right to publication on @Twitter or anywhere, otherwise I can demand @smh publish my letters (2) There's no such thing as a right to free speech, it's a privilege curtailed by laws/social standards. Thread
(3) You can't on the one hand advocate for the free market & on the other hand advocate to control it whenever it does something you don't like (4) Less than almost anyone globally his deplatforming does not restrict his freedom to speak - he has the world's media at his disposal
(5) Allowing the abuse and disinformation propagated by Donald Trump and his ilk actually INHIBITS free speech by discouraging others less influential from speaking through fear of the hate speech he encourages
My view is that regardless of what our ignorant @ScottMorrisonMP Govt does Australians are unlikely to be able to buy a new ICE car by 2030. Why? Because Japan, South Korea & many EU countries are likely to stop making them by then.
Currently South Korea and Japan plan to phase out sales of new ICE vehicles by 2035 in their countries. The UK in 2030 and France in 2040, California in 2035. But it's not just what happens in those countries which are big manufacturers but also what happens in their markets.
The EU is one of world's largest mkts. Germany, Italy, UK & France are in the top 10 markets. UK's target is 2030, France 2040. Germany & Italy have not set dates but are likely to this yr. India the 5th market has set 2030. Japan is 3rd & S. Korea 12th. Their date is 2035.
