There are times in church we must yield to the move of the Spirit simply because there are certain things He wants to handle personally.

I once attended a church where if sin and hell isn’t preached, the service was not considered “hot”.
The Pastor was a good man but he really wanted to bring people to Christ but his approach was worrisome.

He would bring up certain OT teachings and tie it to issues church members were facing.

After the service, everyone was somber and “cut to the heart”.
People would come for altar call but after that service, you won’t see them again.

“The wages of sin is death...” and under my breath, I’ll whisper “and the gift of God is everlasting life”.

The church wasn’t growing and even the ministers were weary.
I was weary too because I saw the Pastor’s heart and I knew he just wanted to do well for the Master.

I asked the Holy Spirit to help us because on many levels, the church wasn’t meeting up.

The Holy Spirit said “On Sunday, I’ll show you something simple yet profound”.
On Sunday, a brother who was made an altar minister was to preach in the Pastor’s absence.

He was a sound teacher and a man of both the Word and the Spirit.

He started with a song and everywhere changed. Immediately, the Holy Spirit said “Pay Attention”.

I did.
My eyes were opened and I saw the cloud.

It was beautiful.

I saw the Brother struggling to “control” the situation but this was beyond him.

Some ministers were already frowning but the Holy Spirit had taken over the church.

It was intense.

Tongues everywhere!
The keyboardist had his eyes closed as he prayed in tongues.

The worship leader was ecstatic. She had longed for a day like this.

The Brother was kabashing!

People were swaying and I stood there smiling and just singing in tongues.

And then it happened.
From nowhere, a sister who stood beside me praying in tongues was suddenly enabled!

She spoke in tongues and interpreted -

“I HAVE MADE A WAY... I, I THE LORD HAS MADE A WAY”.

Everywhere was silent. The Brother after a minute spoke - “This service is for the Holy Spirit”.
He dropped the mic and went to his seat, still speaking in tongues.

The lady that came to take the announcement, took the mic and fell under the anointing.

And for 5 minutes, no one moved. The cloud lifted and everything returned to normal.
That week, the testimonies that came were mind blowing. Promotions, jobs, the gangan who was a serious alcoholic was redeemed and businesses flourished.

The following Sunday was filled with so much testimonies, they had to turn the service to a Testimony Sunday.
The church that was struggling with a Sunday attendance of 70 grew to 140 in two Sundays.

Many folks came out to give their lives to Christ because it is the Holy Spirit who is to convict people of sin.

Healings too place and marriages were restored.
However, there were those who didn’t like the dimension of the service and told the Pastor as much.

They insisted that the Brother shouldn’t handle Sunday Service again and that prophecies should only come from the Pastor.

The church went back to the normal teaching...
... the attendance dwindled and that was it.

Many times, we want to help God and run his church. We have everything outlined.

We bring a business-like approach to church but deep down in people’s live, there’s no change.

A friend told me of how they instituted...
... a rule that anyone who stays too long on the pulpit would pay N5000 including the Pastor.

Why?

People wanted to go home after service and the church was delaying them.

🤣🤣🤣.

Oh! If only they understood the fellowship they could experience allowing the Holy Spirit.
There’s a refreshing that comes with the Holy Spirit that cannot be quantified.

I can’t trade that fellowship for anything beloved... nothing is worth it.

He was praying one morning when he saw a strange revelation. He was on a platform and hanging above his head was a hangman noose.

Suddenly, the platform started rising and his neck was almost in the noose when he woke up.

He asked the Holy Spirit what it meant.
“There’s a trap being set for you by members of the fellowship”. The Holy Spirit told him.

“Oh! What do I do?” He asked.

“When they come with their allegations and their demand for you to relinquish the leadership of the fellowship, relinquish and don’t argue”.
He had taken over the budding fellowship in the core North; a fellowship that had 5 centers all around the North.

The fellowship grew from 5 centers to 100 centers under his leadership but certain EXCOS weren’t happy he was becoming prominent.

Two days later, they summoned him.

Everyone in church knew him. He was a difficult man and would make boast of this.

“Even Pastor sef know say I stubborn”. He once boasted.

“Sir, you can’t reason with my husband! Many have tried including Pastor and he hasn’t changed”. His wife said.
He had a drinking problem; that much was evident. His eyes always looking beady.

Even with the AC in church, he would sweat like someone who was running a marathon.

He had an easy smile but at the edge of that smile was a man with a fierce temper.
He would beat his wife and send her out of the home. His teenage sons never wanted to be around him and he knew this so he made life difficult for them.

Several times have the Pastor, a wonderful and kind hearted man, done to entreat him speaking love to him.

It was some days to Christmas and as a TEAM, they had just finished an intervention for a brother. He was still mulling over certain revelations from the prayers when his wife got a call.

It was from a colleague who was in distress and was crying over the phone in confusion.
"They just chased me out of the house I was staying...again".

The young lady had a history of rejection wherever she went to and even when she got a job, she was so surprised because she was rejected everywhere.

It was in her place of employment she met his wife.
His wife quickly gave him a breakdown and he told her "Let her come to the house in the morning".

By 7:30AM, she was in the house.

Immediately he saw her, he asked her "How old are you?"

"26" she responded.

She actually looked 40. Her responses didn't alarm him.

There's this young couple I have known for a while. I see the way they dote on each other.

It is very rare you see the husband without the wife and even if the wife appeared first, the husband was never far behind.

During church service you would see them eyeing each other.
I recall during a Sunday Service in which his wife was to take the Bible Reading, I could remember him blowing her a phantom kiss as she climbed the pulpit.

It was her blush and smile that made me look at him only to see him making faces at her.

It was beautiful.
As Men's fellowship leader back then, I teased him a lot and told him in all honesty how many men are learning how to treat their wives.

He sighed and said "Bro., it was not always like that initially. Our first year as a married couple was a disaster".

Her husband had a strange feeling.

He woke up and told his wife.

"Babe, this makeover job at Ikorodu makes me uncomfortable. Can you please send someone else?"

"Haba!" She responded.

"This person is my friend and I promised her. Just imagine if I disappoint" She said.
"You can send someone else" He insisted but she was having none of it. She went to the bathroom, came out and saw him praying in the Spirit.

She ignored him.

His prayer intensified and a catchphrase of words kept being repeating as he "skabashed".
"The Lord is my Light... He that dwell in the secret place of the Most High... The Lord shall bless our going out and coming in".

She ignored and dressed up.

As she was stepping out of the room with her box, he pulled her close, laid hands on her and prayed in tongues.

Earlier this morning, I had just finished ministering the baptism of the Holy Spirit to a wonderful sister. I was meditating on certain things when I received a call from someone.

I have known this lady for years and never for once have I heard her cry.

She literally broke down
She was tired of everything and she said that much. She lived in a neighbourhood where everyone believed that living in a big house, means you're the cause of their problems.

Anxiety had set in and fear had a fierce grip on her.

She sobbed, heavily and It weighed me down.
I didn't even know what to say but I told her I would come see her, and I did.

We talked at length and as she spoke, I saw how many women out there are afraid of so many things. The lockdown did a job on many people and coming out, they haven't adjusted.
