Good morning. At 11AM ET, @LeaderHoyer will attempt to pass a resolution that calls on @VP Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment against outgoing Trump. Should Pence decide to do nothing following last week’s insurrection, Pelosi says impeachment articles to come, likely midweek.
From the House floor, we hear the resignation letter from the sergeant at arms, Paul D. Irving, read aloud and it is accepted.
.@LeaderHoyer now on the floor and asks for HR Res 21, resolution calling on VP Pence to convene the cabinet and activate the 25th Amendment and call Trump incapable of executing the duties of his powers as president.
There is a single objection to this from a West Virginia lawmaker and that ends the legislative session for today. Reconvene tomorrow at 9AM ET for further consideration of that and other resolutions. Story coming up for @CourthouseNews
I'll have a story breaking a lot of this down for @CourthouseNews shortly.
WASHINGTON (CN) — House Democrats introduced articles of impeachment alongside a resolution that invokes the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump for having incited the rioters who led an insurrectionist attack on the U.S. Capitol last week. courthousenews.com/articles-of-im…
If you're watching Washington today, settle in. It is a long day ahead. The House convenes at 9AM ET while House Rules Cmte finalizes the 25A resolution asking Pence & Trump's cabinet to remove him for unfitness. Vote on 25A expected late tonight, i.e. after 8PM. @CourthouseNews
I'll have a report for you later and will post updates on this thread as we go today. And as always, here's a link to the live-stream of the House: c-span.org/video/?507878-…
After convening this a.m. then briefly recessing to finish legislative business off floor, Leader Hoyer says by approx. 6:00 p.m., the House will come back to begin 1 hr of debate on the resolution and then vote. They estimate votes starting by 7:30 - I think that's optimistic.
The Senate voted 80-12 to begin *debate* on overriding President Trump's veto of the $740B defense spending bill and they will begin that process tomorrow. @CourthouseNews
Today: The Senate is back in session @ 3PM ET, not long after we will see a vote for debate to start on the NDAA veto override. A Senate bill bunching $2k checks/Trump's election fraud cmte/Section 230 repeal also expected there PLUS the House's CASH Act (clean $2k checks bill)
Timing on action for the Senate combo legislation or the already passed House bill still TBA. @CourthouseNews
You know the drill by now, I take it - @JackRodgersCNS and I will have the coverage for you!
There are actually some really hard-working good people on Capitol Hill that you would never know about because they are just doing the work and not tweeting about it.
Once, as a baby reporter, I was lost inside the Cap, and a Very Nice Gentleman, maybe 45, saw me struggling, revealed himself as a leg. aide, and then escorted me all the way out, answered all my stupid q's and then showed me a shortcut. He was in the middle of drafting policy.
If someone interrupts me in the middle of drafting a story and I am on a deadline, whatever you are saying to interrupt me better have to do with my story or one MUCH bigger. Otherwise, I stop for basically nothing. That man had the patience of a literal saint.

The outgoing single term president, who lost to Joe Biden in November according to the Electoral College and popular vote, also, technically, lost his fight with the House yesterday when they voted to override his veto.
