The Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mota-Engil Group on the construction of $1.959 billion dollars Kano-Maradi Standard Gauge Railway lines.

According to a statement from Ministry of Transportation, the new (Kano–Maradi) railway corridor will run through Kano, Jigawa and Katsina and through Niger Republic territory as far as Maradi.
Towns like Danbatta (Kano), Kazaure (Jigawa), and Daura, Mashi, Jibia (Katsina) will also be affected by the new rail line in Nigeria. #KanoMaradiRail
The 283.75 kilometre #KanoMaradiRail line will help develop freight and passenger transport as it would be integrated with road transport. It will also contribute greatly to the local economy as well as Nigeria’s social sector.
According to Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, the duration for the #KanoMaradiRail project is 36 months and the contract type is Engineering, Procurement and Construction.
The contractor of #KanoMaradiRail, Mota-Engil Group has also agreed to build a University in Nigeria as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) while working on the project. #RailUpNG.

COVID–19: To reduce overcrowding in public spaces, markets, shopping centres, offices and schools States are advised by the PTF to implement the following:
a. Encourage virtual meetings in government Offices. The leadership of such offices are to ensure that all offices are well-ventilated offices, and encourage staff to work from home where possible;
b. All government staff on GL.12 and below are to stay at home for the next 5 weeks; Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executives are to be held accountable for enforcing NPI rules in their domains with frequent spot checks;

a. Close All bars, night clubs, pubs and event centres, and recreational venues;

On the marching order of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidentical Task Force on COVID–19 sends a powerful delegation to meet Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State, and set up a Special Committee to work closely with the Kano COVID–19 Team.
Dr. Nasiru Sani Gwarzo, who led the delegation, said “President Muhammadu Buhari gave us a marching order to be in Kano and find out what the state needs for containing the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Dr Gwarzo said "President said we must do everything possible to support, reinforce and mobilize support even beyond the nation. Your Excellency on the Special Committee sent to Kano to work with the state government are experts in public health and other areas."

Henceforth, all MDAs are required to submit their Yearly Travel Plans for statutory meetings and engagements to the Office of the SGF and/or the Office of the HOCSF for express clearance within the first quarter of the fiscal year, before implementation.
