Perhaps no House member that Democrats would less like to hear this message from.
"Rushing this resolution to the floor will do nothing to unify or heal the country," says @Jim_Jordan at House Rules. "These actions, again, will only continue to divide the nation."
>@RepMcGovern not having it: "I'm glad that all it took for you to call for unity and for healing was for our freedom and our democracy to be attacked. But for the last several months the gentleman from Ohio and others have given oxygen to the president's conspiracy theories."
More @RepMcGovern: "We all want healing, but in order to get to healing, we need truth and we need accountability." Notes he was in the Speaker's Lobby and saw the mob trying to rush through the doors. "I saw in their eyes hate and evil."
More @jim_jordan playing down the Stop the Steal push: "Mr. Chairman, I said Joe Biden won the election, but there were problems with how it was done."
McGovern: "People came here, Mr. Jordan, because they believed the lie...this election was not done in a fair & square fashion."
Jordan tries to equate the Trump/Republican "Stop the Steal" effort with Democratic challenges to Trump's votes on Jan. 6, 2017. McGovern, exasperated, noted he recognized Trump as winner and Clinton had long since conceded.
>@RepRaskin rebuts: "What did the Democrats do? They put on pink winter hats, marched peacefully with a million people, joined Planned Parenthood, worked...to try to reform America. Nobody was out there agitating for a violent armed insurrection against the government."
>@RepMcGovern to Jordan & Co.: "I think you could do the country a great service if you just say the five words: The election was not stolen. ... Tweet that, instead of some of the other stuff that gets put on Twitter."
>@RepPerlmutter asks Jordan: "Isn't it true that Joe Biden won the election?":
@Jim_Jordan: "Yes, he's going to be president. I've never said this election was stolen. ... There are serious problems with this investigation that deserve an investigation."
Just gonna drop this right here.

>@DebbieLesko says Dems are being sore winners after taking the presidency, House and Senate: "I call on you to chalk up the win ... I really do believe that you pushing this is going to further divide our country, further the unrest and possibly incite more violence."

>@RepGregSteube sees metal detectors outside the House chamber, says Joe Biden's going to take your guns.
"Take note, America. This is what you have to look forward to. ... If they can do it right here in the people's house, they will attempt to do it across the country."
Steube says Democrats are trying to "prevent members from exercising their 2nd Amendment constitutional rights in the very place that wasn't secure a week ago." (Actually: You can't carry a gun on the House floor, period.)

>@RepPatFallon: Trump "held a permitted legal and peaceful rally."
"A mob breached our sacred capitol; Donald Trump didn't. A mob ... ran amok on these grounds. But Donald Trump didn't. A mob committed despicable and evil acts ... but Donald Trump didn't."

>@RepConorLamb delivers one of the more memorable Hosue speeches tonight -- and almost sparks a fistfight inside the chamber. "These objections don't deserve an ounce of respect, not an ounce. A woman died out there tonight. And you're making these objections."
Lamb got even more personal: "That attack today, it didn't materialize out of nowhere, it was inspired by lies... The members who're repeating those lies should be ashamed of themselves, their constituents should be ashamed of them."
A few moments later @MorganGriffith rose to have Lamb's words taken down. Pelosi refused, saying it was "not timely." Griffith argued back, and Pelosi said, "Look, you say that about me every single day." Lamb kept talking, and that's when the altercation happened off camera.

Here's the list: 121 House Republicans who voted to reject Arizona's 11 electoral votes, reflecting ballots cast by 3.4 million Americans.
And here are the 83 Republicans who voted to reject the challenges, defying the pressure from President Trump and his supporters.
Because there are number of additional members who voted to reject PA but not AZ -- here is the list of Republicans who backed the challenge to the votes of 6.9 million Pennsylvanians.

McConnell: "We'll complete the process, the right way, by the book. ... Criminal behavior will never dominate the United States Congress. This institution is resilient, our democratic republic is strong. The American people deserve nothing less."
SCHUMER: "Franklin Roosevelt set aside Dec. 7, 1941, as the day that will live in infamy. Unfortunately, we can now add Jan. 6, 2021, to that very short list of dates in American history that will live forever in infamy."
"This will be a stain on our country not so easily washed away, the final terrible, indelible legacy of the 45th president of the United States -- undoubtedly, our worst."

>@SenSchumer says he spoke to Biden: "I pledged to him that as majority leader, President Biden & VP-elect Harris will have a partner in me and my caucus, who is ready, willing and able to help achieve a forward looking agenda and deliver bold change to the American people."
"For too long, much needed help has been stalled or diluted by a Republican led Senate, and President Trump that will change with a Democratic Senate, Democratic House, and a Democratic president."
Asked about power-sharing deal: "I look forward to sitting down with Leader McConnell. We have a lot of things to discuss. We 1st have to wait till the races are certified and the new senators here are here...before we can put anything in place, but certainly will have to talk."

If you're trying to plan your Weds/Thurs: @LeaderHoyer tells reporters that, yes, if there are challenges to all 6 states it could take as much as four hours to debate and vote on each one, meaning 24 hours (!) of counting.
Could the joint session recess? It's possible to break at some point if one of the states is challenged (see the statute below) but they would have to restart no later than 10 a.m. the next day. Some sr Dems arguing for no breaks, power through until it's done.
Said @LeaderHoyer on the recess question: "I don’t think we need to go all night … I’ll have to make that judgment though sometime on Wednesday.”
