About fucking time: they should never have been arrested or jailed. #Egyptian court acquits women jailed for 'inciting debauchery' on TikTok theguardian.com/world/2021/jan… h/t @rerutled
In the name of “morality” and safeguarding “Egyptian family values,” the Egyptian regime has arrested and jailed at least 9 young, mostly working class women for singing, dancing, and posting selfies on Tik-Tok, again fully clothed and some in hijab. feministgiant.com/p/essay-macho-…
I wrote more about them here in September feministgiant.com/p/why-do-they-…

Hossam had been arrested in April after posting a video on TikTok, telling her 1.3 million subscribers that girls could work with her for money.

She was accused of “inciting debauchery”, “attacking public morals” and “human trafficking”. theguardian.com/world/2021/jan…
Al-Adham, who has about 2 million Instagram followers, was also arrested in May after publishing satirical videos.

They are among a dozen influencers arrested in 2020 for “breaching public morals” in the conservative country.
Hossam’s lawyer Hussein El Bakar told the Thomson Reuters Foundation that the TikTok star, who is a student at Cairo University, fainted on hearing the verdict. reuters.com/article/egypt-…
“Haneen went through a lot of psychological pressure because of being jailed for the past nine months,” he said, adding that Hossam would be freed although she is still facing charges of human trafficking, with no date set for the ruling.
Egyptian parliamentarians last year demanded the government suspend TikTok, saying it promoted nudity and immorality.

Under Egypt’s 2018 cybercrime law, anyone running an account on the internet to commit a crime faces at least 2yrs in jail & up to 300k Egyptian pounds ($19,206)
Two men who had been jailed for managing the women’s social media accounts were also acquitted on Tuesday, while a third was found guilty of managing Eladham’s accounts and fined.

The court kept intact the fine that Eladham was ordered to pay last year.

First-time GOP Congresswomen Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert might not have been among the fanatics who stormed the Capitol on January 6, but their views very much make them fanatics within that same building.
feministgiant.com/p/a-white-supr…
They are the first QANon supporters elected to Congress and both have said January 6 was Republicans’ “1776 moment,” in a reference to the American revolution. But the insurrectionists were not revolutionaries. They were not fighting a tyrannical state.
They were fighting to extend the tyranny of white supremacy, which has seen its fruition in Donald J. Trump.

If Trump could give birth, it would have been to Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert, both of whom are clearly created in his image.

How many members of the US Congress were too afraid to speak at today’s impeachment hearing or to support impeachment because they fear for their lives from white supremacist fascists?

And contrast with courage of @IlhanMN who has long been targeted by Trump and his disciples
I wrote this in 2019 about the dangers @IlhanMN faces as a Black Muslim woman in hijab in a deeply racist, misogynistic and Islamophobic country. google.com/amp/s/www.nbcn…
While white members of the US Congress fear for their lives, remember Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are exactly what Trump and his white supremacist fascists hate most: Black and women of colour & Muslim. I wrote this after they were elected in 2018 google.com/amp/s/www.nbcn…

Fuck the patriarchy in every time zone and every universe.
Profanity is an essential tool in disrupting patriarchy and its rules. It is the verbal equivalent of civil disobedience.

#Ireland’s prime minister said Tuesday that the country must “face up to the full truth of our past,” as a long-awaited report recounted decades of harm done by church-run homes for unmarried women and their babies, where thousands of infants died. google.com/amp/s/abcnews.…
PM Micheal Martin said young women & their children had paid a heavy price for #Ireland’s “perverse religious morality”in past decades.

“We had a completely warped attitude to sexuality & intimacy.Young mothers & their sons & daughters paid a terrible price for that dysfunction”
Martin said he would make a formal apology on behalf of the state in Ireland's parliament on Wednesday.

The final report of an inquiry into the mother-and-baby homes said that 9,000 children died in 18 different mother and baby homes during the 20th century.

I wrote this 2 days after the November election: “Trump said out loud what so many whispered. He was never an aberration, but rather a fruition of decades of white supremacist, misogynist, bigoted rot.” feministgiant.com/p/essay-femini…
“My concern if Joe Biden wins the presidency is that the white liberals who spent the Trump era crying  “This isn’t my America” (sidenote: WHAT FUCKING AMERICA HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING IN?) will now celebrate “My America is back!” and go on amnesia overdrive.”
Those of us who want liberation, remember.

Democrat or Republican, regardless of who occupies the White House, I fight the crimes of white supremacist patriarchy because the presidents never do.
And I refuse to let you forget the dangers of white supremacist patriarchy

Fox News Anchor: with the social media crackdown, does he feel emasculated?
Trump National Press Secretary: I wouldn’t say emasculated, especially as the most masculine person, I think, to ever hold the White House is the President of the United States
“...the most masculine person, I think, to ever hold the White House is the President of the United States.” A tweet by Trump of a picture of the boxer Rocky, shirtless
That is exactly why I wrote this essay on the preening hyper masculinity of fascism feministgiant.com/p/essay-macho-…
