More than 75,000,000 Years Ago: the Namekians, a race of peaceable slug folk native to U6 and U7, take fragments of Zalama’s planet-sized Wish Orbs and whittle them down into Dragon Balls of a more manageable size. #HistoryofEver ImageImage
These smaller DBs have a limit to the sorts of wishes they can grant, yet even with limited powers they invite chaos into the natural order. The witch-faced Kaioshin therefore warns the Namekians to restrict their use to Planet Namek itself, and not interfere with other planets. Image
(This was obviously before Old Kai was sealed away, but there’s no way of telling if it was before or after he fused with the witch. But I really just wanted an excuse to say “witch-faced Kaioshin”)
In fact, according to Dragon Ball General Theory, the DBs have Plus Energy that decreases whenever they grant a wish, while their Minus Energy correspondingly rises. It takes 100 years for this Minus Energy to be purged, so using DBs more than once a century is a bad idea. Image
How bad? Well, once the Minus Energy passes a certain limit, it rushes out and creates shadowy, evil dragons. Once, legend has it, evil dragons such as these appeared on a certain planet and wiped it out, along with a nearby galaxy or two. ImageImageImage
What planet was this, and how did it get mixed up with the Dragon Balls? Who knows, but this is apparently the sort of thing Old Kai had in mind when he warned the Namekians to keep their DBs to themselves.
(Popo’s line describes the planet and まわりの銀河/surrounding galaxy/galaxies” all being destroyed, precisely the sort of annoying line I seem to be dealing with a lot lately. Steve Simmons apparently didn’t like it either, and hedges his bets with “cosmos” on the Funi subs) Image

Age 712: West City College graduate Dr. Briefs invents a revolutionary system for storing objects of any size inside tiny capsules. He then goes on to found a corporation for producing these capsules. Its name escapes me. #HistoryofEver ImageImage
Dr. Briefs’ life story is outlined in rather surprising detail in his Daizenshuu 7 bio, including the tidbits that he majored in physical chemistry and got his doctorate from West City College (as you might expect), then founded Capsule Corp after inventing the capsule (likewise) ImageImageImage
(物理化学/physical chemistry is possibly a typo for 物理科学/physical science, since both are read as butsuri kagaku, although I’ll leave it to you to judge which if either seems a better fit for developing capsules)

Kinnikuman, Gold Mask arc part 1: after defeating the Seven Devil Chojin, it turns out they were just a bunch of underlings working for the Six Devil Knights, who work for Satan himself. The result? Something kinda the same as last arc, but even weirder. #Kinnikuman #GoldMask Image
The Devil Knights steal the Gold Mask from Kinniku Palace. The Gold/Silver Mask pair were given to the ancestors of the Kinniku Tribe by the gods, and are the source of Justice Chojin Power (somehow). Which means separating the masks robs all the good guys of their strength. ImageImageImageImage
The story of the Gold/Silver Masks is inspired by the fable of the honest woodcutter, with the joke that the Kinniku ancestor only acts honestly by accident. Given all we learn of the two masks later, it’s questionable how much of this tale actually happened anyway Image

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai ep.26: Popp seems more impressive than ever. The Dragon Masters...less so. Looks really nice, yet again. 3.75/5 #DragonQuest #ep26
The opening has been revamped a bit, with added images of stuff we’ll see in this new phase of the series. Which means it’s also a lot of stuff that wasn’t in the 90s anime at all.
Remember that chess set from last episode? It’s moving up in the world!

Kinnikuman ch.343, “Sacred Tag!!”: having done his duty, Mammoth Man is content to let his captain Super Phoenix take over from here. The scene switches to Phoenix and Big Body in the Roman Coliseum. wpb.cdn.cloudpublisher.jp/view2.php?p=wx… #Kinnikuman #ch343 ImageImage
(The ring collapses into the Gates of Hell, but we don’t see Mammoth Man’s body burn up, so maybe there’s still hope for him?)
Phoenix and Big Body are in a tag match against a pair of Choshin. The first knocks Big Body around with some karate chops. This god used to get along well with Phoenix’s patron, the God of Intelligence, so he takes a shine to Phoenix too. ImageImage

100,000,000 Years Ago: on Earth, the Cretaceous (in conventional reality). In the afterlife portion of U7, the North Kaio’s planet already exists at this time. The Kaioshin (Supreme Kai) is assisted by four Kaio (non-Supreme Kai), who monitor the NSEW areas of U7. #HistoryofEver Image
(The planet anachronistically pictured here in its smaller, post-Beerus form, but whaddaya expect?)
North Kaio’s planet can be reached via the million kilometer Snake Way that stretches over Hell. Has anyone ever crossed it? The oni who drives Goku there thinks that King Yama (Yemma) is the only one to have made the trip, and that this was within the last 100 million years. ImageImageImage

41 D.C. (Divine Calendar): in this memorable year, the dragon god Zalama came out with a handy invention called Wish Orbs, a set of seven planet-sized spheres that, once assembled, would summon a dragon to grant any wish. Hence their alternate name: Dragon Balls. #HistoryofEver Image
Due to their great size, this original set of DBs are usually referred to as “Super Dragon Balls”, and the divine dragon (Shenlong) they produce is likewise called “Super Shenlong”. They are normally spread throughout U6 and U7 and must be addressed in the divine language. ImageImage
42 DC: Zalama trademarks the DB’s distinctive red star pattern. How this “Divine Calendar” fits into the overall timeline is unknown, but the name implies it’s used by the gods, and Year 41/42 (rather than 100 Zillion) in turn implies these events were early on in divine history. ImageImage
