Channeling @oneunderscore__ reminder that QAnon believes that Trump will ultimately bring "The Storm," a reckoning that includes mass executions of leading Democrats including those in Congress.

Whole lot of evidence now that many of Trump's supporters went to the Capitol with intent to kill/harm Members of Congress or anyone else they could get their hands on.

Simply not plausible FBI/DHS missed this.

GOPers have an off ramp on their road to radicalization.

It begins w/declaring the election legitimate, telling their supporters to stand down.

Those who refuse to do this are fueling the insurrection, and what might become an insurgency.

Agree w/@rgoodlaw - this is a bullshit statement from the President which will do nothing to stop the insurrection, the violence to come. It is in fact an implicit encouragement for his supporters to keep going.

For days now I've been calling bullshit on DOD/FBI/DHS/Capitol Police claims no one could see the attack on the Congress coming (1/x).

According to new @WashingtonPost reporting, we now know it was bullshit. Scary bullshit in fact, for it sure appears there was an effort to suppress vital intelligence which would have allowed the city to be prepared (2/x). washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
This thread does a good at explaining why it was never plausible the US govt didn't know violence or an attack on Congress could occur. It was always a ridiculous line, sort of like saying COVID is no worse than the flu (3/x).

1. Can there be any doubt now that Trump has launched a major natl campaign to overturn the election results, which includes the sustained use of force/violence, to stay in power?

There just can't be any question abt this any longer, any attempt to find an innocent explanation..

Some morning thoughts on Jan 6th, the aftermath....

First, the idea that the govt didn't know the Trump rally could turn violent, attack Congress is simply bullshit, and raises worrisome questions about whether DOJ/DHS/DOD were told to stand down (1/x).

NDN has called on Congress to bring AG Rosen, DHS Sec Wolf in to testify under oath either in their current jobs, or as private citizens - ndn.org/blog/2021/01/d…

The House appears to be moving in that direction now (2/x).

The success of Trump and his extremists in taking over a heavily fortified govt building has created true domestic security crisis in US.

These groups will be emboldened; defeating them will be extraordinary new challenge for Biden-Harris team (3/x).

Lots of big challenges for Biden-Harris and the new Congress to tackle in coming months.

But one of their biggest challenges will be to counter, effectively, a domestic right wing extremist movement that had a huge win this week, and will be emboldened.

When the new team gets in there and starts sharing details on just how much Trump coddled, encouraged, stoked, covered up for domestic extremists it will become a deeply dark chapter in our history.
