@DmitryOpines @jillongovt @hhesterm @DavidGHFrost 1/2

Could we say this?

1) The PM is not expected to have read the TCA from cover to cover.

2) He will have had a briefing paper on its contents,

3) which he should have studied...
@DmitryOpines @jillongovt @hhesterm @DavidGHFrost 2/3

4) Hence he should know sufficient detail to be able to answer @CommonsLiaison questions accurately.

5) He should feel able to say that he does not know the answer, where he doesn't, and that he will find out the answer.
@DmitryOpines @jillongovt @hhesterm @DavidGHFrost @CommonsLiaison 3/3

6) The fact that points (3) to (5) do not appear to be obviously the case is the real worry here.

At one level, @Keir_Starmer’s words this morning on #Marr about Brexit were perhaps to be expected.

It’s politics, and he was politicking. He knows that such words have a shelf life of a few days at most….

@Keir_Starmer And there was a realism there: the deal has been done, and the EU is unlikely to undo it.

However, what he said also depressed me rather…

@Keir_Starmer Perhaps naïvely, I had hoped that @Keir_Starmer might stand above the political fray, just a little, and speak truth, fully, constantly and plainly.

And yet it seems not.

It’s clear, to me at least, that Starmer plays politics like the rest of them.

@pritipatel is - and has been found to be - a bully.

On her public utterances alone, "kind" is the last word anyone would apply to her.

@TomTugendhat used to be so much better than this feeble submission to all things neo-Tory.

What happened to him?
@pritipatel @TomTugendhat The only reason Patel may have some support across parts of the Tory bedrock vote, despite her incompetence and bullying, is that her unremitting xenophobia appeals to part of that increasingly UKIPified constituency.

@pritipatel @TomTugendhat And, after her frankly subversive Israel meetings, she should never have been appointed to a senior or indeed any govt post.

The only reason she was, was her hardline Brexiter credentials.

Mr Tugendhat does himself no favours in supporting her.

Such a vile tweet, which implies that you cannot be both Muslim and British/English.

This tweet is reported to @Conservatives @10DowningStreet @amandamilling and to @HoCStandards.
@Conservatives @10DowningStreet @amandamilling @HoCStandards @Mike_Fabricant To be scrupulously fair, Fabricant did also tweet as below a little later.

But the tweet at the head of this short thread has not been deleted, or apologised for. Image

.@LindsayHoyle_MP now has the summer to contemplate what the future for HoC is to be, and what he wants as his legacy as Speaker.

1) HoC becomes a fossilised institution, honoured in the breach by a rampantly authoritarian Tory government....

@LindsayHoyle_MP ...Gradually, HoC offers less and less scrutiny over runaway Executive power-grabbing.

To achieve this, Sir Lindsay needs to do... precisely nothing. Carry on turning the creaking Parliamentary cogs, as if nothing were wrong.

@LindsayHoyle_MP Option 2) HoC revivifies itself as a (even, the) wellspring of democracy in our country.

To achieve this, Sir Lindsay will need to be bold. With others, he will have to find new ways of working...

Why is Farage breaking the law by not self-quarantining after his trip to the US?

@metpoliceuk @kent_police
@metpoliceuk @kent_police For clarity, here is the current position on self-quarantining on a return to England.

@metpoliceuk @kent_police Here is Farage in US on 20 June.

Looks like he may have been in Florida when he posted that tweet.

That's a 5 hour time difference.

So, when he posted at 15h15 local time, it was 20h15 in the UK.

20h15, 20 June <--> 13h23, 4 July is less than 14 days.

Very similar wording, half an hour apart, @MPritchardUK and @pauljholmes.

As @MissLauraMarcus points out, is there a form of words going round?

WhatApp? CCHQ? Would either of you like to clarify?
@MPritchardUK @pauljholmes @MissLauraMarcus I see @rowenamason has picked this up.

Looks like a holding operation to some.

"Flannel", it's described as.

Can't you actually say what *you* think?

@MPritchardUK @pauljholmes @MissLauraMarcus @rowenamason And now this is being picked up by @mrjamesob.

Plagiarism or shared playbook, rumbled.
