Snake River Correctional Institution (SRCI) / October 26th, 2020.
Thank you for sending me letters, I am at Snake River, Ontario, Ore. I have been here for 9 months and have been locked up for 17 months.
The staff here don’t wear their masks all the time and a lot of people have gotten sick with Covid, we have been on lockdown for months.
Since the lockdown I don’t come out much 'cause I have asthma, I use an inhaler, I have Alvesco 80 MCG. Also borderline diabetic, I have gained 120 lbs in 17 months.
I will say Snake River does have a good medical system but the officers walk around without their masks on then pat us down and search our rooms and touch everything and don’t wear gloves...
... so I stay in my room 'cause with weak lungs getting Covid can kill me, and I am not here for life.
I got 7 years 9 months, 84 months for stealing things as a first time offender, I never had a record before 2019. I was scared and pled guilty to 42 felonies, afraid I would get 30 years, the only deal the DA would give me was 333 months.
Just last week I wrote Kate Brown telling her that I am here for property crimes and that I didn’t get a death sentence over stealing things that in the end the people got back. I’m not violent, I never hurt anyone, and I owe $136,000 in restitution.
I asked for her to suspend my sentence and to put me on an ankle monitor and to give me one chance to prove I can do right. I used meth and stole a lot of things I should have gotten one chance to go to rehab.
Thats my story, I would love info on everything you got. You can share on your outreach.

"Coffee Creek told OSP that they were sending a busload of Covid positive people over, which wasn’t the truth. All of us that were there on the bus had been in Coffee Creek intake for over 30 days or more...”
We started to make a big fuss about being held there so long. Instead of fixing that themselves, Coffee Creek didn’t want to deal with us anymore and sent us away."
